Less than a week after California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation intended to reduce retail theft by organized shoplifting rings, police responded to a burglar alarm sounding from a wine shop he owns in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported, “Thieves struck a San Francisco outpost of PlumpJack Wine & Spirits on Tuesday, the latest in a string of break-ins at the wine company founded by Gov. Gavin Newsom.”
