Twitter CEO Says Social Media Platform ‘Can Amplify The Counter-Narrative.’ Only Gives Anti-Republican Examples.

Ah, Twitter, the social media platform that is currently allowing multiple accounts that have tweeted threats of death or violence against children — and Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro — to go unpunished, while almost immediately taking down an obvious parody account.

In the past few days, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has given interviews to multiple left-wing media outlets, including Rolling Stone and the Huffington post.

In his Rolling Stone interview, Dorsey answered a question about the platform allowing public figures and politicians to spread lies to their followers by saying the following:

An interesting case study is the Sarah Sanders video that may have been doctored to increase the severity of whatever Jim Acosta did. It speaks to where all these technologies are going. It’s so easy, potentially, to create alternative narratives. The question we’re now asking ourselves is, if that is indeed misleading, how do we stop its spread? We can amplify the counter-narrative. We do have a curation team that looks to find balance. A lot of times when our president tweets, a Moment occurs, and we show completely different perspectives. So a lot of times, people don’t just see that tweet.

First, the video was not doctored, it was slowed down and zoomed in to try and give a better look at what actually occurred, so Dorsey spread his own misinformation while talking about combatting misinformation.

The other example he gave was President Donald Trump, suggesting the platform gives perspectives to counter the president — something that certainly didn’t happen under President Barack Obama.

Not a single mention of any time someone on the Left spread misinformation — like, any left-wing figure during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings who spread every crazy theory about the then-Supreme Court nominee as a teenager they could find. Nope, just conservatives in Dorsey’s mind.

In the Huffington Post interview, which was published days before the Stone interview, Dorsey said that if Trump called for the murder of a journalist (yes, interviewer Ashley Feinberg actually asked this) then his account would be banned.

“That would be a violent threat. We’d definitely … You know we’re in constant communication with all governments around the world. So we’d certainly talk about it,” Dorsey said.

As Newsbusters pointed out, “when the Supreme Leader of Iran, Khomeini, tweeted for the annihilation of Israel and all the Jewish people, Twitter turned a blind eye.”

Dorsey, however, seemed quite concerned with what he wanted Twitter to do: solve problems.

“What we need the world to consider, which is, how do we solve climate change? There’s no country anywhere on the planet that’s gonna solve it alone,” he said.

And there’s no way such a problem will be solved on a platform where people with very little background or insight can comment quickly and constantly, but with a 280-character limit.

Oddly enough, Dorsey had nothing but praise for activist Laura Loomer, who chained herself to Twitter’s New York headquarters to protest her ban:

I respect that. I think it’s brave. I love activists. I love protest. I’m a punk. My music when I was growing up was punk. Hackers are punk. It’s questioning the system, not because you hate it but because you want to make it better. I respect her desire to make Twitter better. I respect every mention that I get to make Twitter better and to make me better. I hope I never lose that. I would not chain myself to a corporate office, but I respect that courage, and I respect what you have to do mentally to get to that state.

He did not say her account would be restored.
