Trump Doesn’t Think That Achieving Middle Peace Will Be Particularly Difficult. He’s Wrong.

President Donald Trump apparently thinks that achieving peace in the Middle East won’t be that hard.

In a joint press conference with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Trump said the following:

While Trump has shown to be more pro-Israel than his predecessor, those statements suggest naïveté from the current president regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. What Trump doesn’t realize is that Abbas will never make a deal unless it ensures the destruction of Israel.

To understand Abbas, one just needs to take a look at his book The Other Face of the Secret Connections Between Nazism and the Leadership of the Zionist Movement, where Abbas engages in Holocaust denial by claiming that the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust is an unsubstantiated number and cites prominent Holocaust deniers throughout, but then bizarrely claims that Zionists were complicit in the Holocaust because they thought it would be a grand opportunity to achieve their goal of creating a Jewish state.

As The Tower notes, a bibliography is absent from Abbas’ book because it’s a delusional tale concocted from the writings of Adolf Eichmann, “the primary architect of the Holocaust.”

This is the same Abbas who promised to continue Yasser Arafat’s work; Arafat was a terrorist who was mentored by Haj Amin Al Husseini, a man who partnered with and supported the Third Reich. Al Husseini even brought “a former Nazi commando into Egypt to teach Mr. Arafat and other teenage recruits the fine points of guerrilla warfare.”

With that in mind, it should be no surprise that Abbas is a kleptocrat who incites Palestinian violence against the Jews, celebrates terrorists and refused to take a deal in 2008 that would have given the Palestinian Authority most of the West Bank. It also shouldn’t be surprising that Palestinians are provided with textbooks that teach them how to murder Jews.

In short: Abbas is a Jew-hating, terrorist-supporting tyrant. He is not the kind of person that you can make a deal with. The sooner Trump understands this, the sooner he realizes that the pursuit of a two-state solution is futile.
