The adult film industry has been rocked by deaths, losing four young women in the last three months. The latest young woman in the industry to die is 20-year-old Olivia Nova, who was found dead in Las Vegas on Sunday.
It’s unclear how Nova died. The porn star reportedly posted on her social media that she was “lonely” during the holidays. She also revealed that she was still grieving the death of her boyfriend, who died from a drug overdose.
LA Direct Models, which represented Nova, said the company was “beyond shocked” to hear about her passing.
“While only represented by Direct Models for a short period of time, we came to know Olivia as a beautiful girl with a very sweet and gentle personality,” said a statement from LA Direct. “It is understood next of kin have been informed. Another one, way too young we are beyond shocked and most certainly, completely out of the blue. Rest in peace, sweet angel.”
Fans posted to Nova via Twitter upon the news of her death.
“RIP Olivia Nova. Sad to hear she passed away,” posted one Twitter user. “Sad to see her go. May her soul RIP,” wrote another.
Nova’s death comes on the heels of three others dying.
In early December, 23-year-old porn star August Ames, who suffered from mental health issues, hanged herself after being bullied for refusing to shoot sex scenes with a man who engages in gay porn. Ames said she was molested as a child.
In that same month, at just 31, porn star Yurizan Beltran, AKA Turi Luv, died from a drug overdose. “I hope to arrive to my death, late, in love, and a little drunk,” she wrote in a social media post before her death.
Another porn star, Shyla Stylez, died in November at age 35. Stylez made it out of the industry last year and was said to have died in her sleep.
As previously reported by The Daily Wire, scores of women who’ve left the porn industry have made it their mission to highlight the damage working in porn does to young females, as they understand this all too well.
Shelley Lubben, who made it out of the porn industry, runs a site called “The Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn,” where former adult film workers open up about the horrors of the industry. Many women reveal their past issues which initially led them to the industry, and describe how their problems only compounded from there.
“I hung out with a lot of people in the Adult industry,” former porn star Becca Brat wrote. “Everybody has the same problems. Everybody is on drugs. It’s an empty lifestyle trying to fill up a void.”
“The truth is I let my lifestyle get the best of me. I hate life. I’m a mess. A disaster. I’ve attempted suicide many times,” said another former porn actress, Neesa. “No one cares about a dead porn star or stripper.”
