William Schneiderman is a name you’ve probably never heard before. But due to recent events — in particular, the election of a Ugandan socialist to serve as the mayor of the nerve center of American capitalism — William Schneiderman is suddenly very relevant again.
In the 1920s, Schneiderman became a naturalized citizen of the United States after immigrating here from Russia. Just a few years later, Schneiderman pulled a Zohran Mamdani. He decided to run for political office as an avowed communist. Specifically, he wanted to become the governor of Minnesota so that he could undermine American capitalism and destroy the state. In that regard, he was a bit ahead of his time.
