Reports about director Steven Spielberg’s feelings regarding his daughter, Mikaela Spielberg, and her newfound porn career have been mixed. On the one hand, Mikaela claims the director fully supports her, while family friends have told a different story. Speaking with The Sun for a second time, Mikaela says her parents consider her career “taboo art.”
“My parents – despite what people have written – aren’t embarrassed, they were actually kind of expecting it to be my career… some sort of outsider art… or taboo art, because they’ve always known that I was a little bit neurotic,” she said. “That’s not to say all performers are neurotic…just the kind of performer I am – they’ve always known that whatever I wanted to do in life I probably was going to do it whether they liked it or not. So it kind of felt like a little bit of a relief. It was like they were preparing themselves to get the news for this and they’re not sad for me and my choice of career.”
Mikaela added that she does not feel sorry for her parents and that nobody else should either. “I’m not sad for them,” she said. “People shouldn’t be sad for them. That’s the one big thing – people are like, ‘I feel sorry for your parents.’ Nobody here is a victim.”
Speaking with The Sun last month, Mikaela, a.k.a. “Sugar Star,” said that she will be self-producing her own porn videos while obtaining a sex worker license in Tennessee. Initially, her parents, Steven and Kate, were reportedly “not upset” by the news, but rather “intrigued.”
“My safety has always been a number one priority for them,” Mikaela said. “I’m doing this, not out of an urge to hurt anybody or be spiteful about it, I’m doing this because I want to honor my body in a way that’s lucrative.”
“I actually think that once they see how far I’ve come from the bottom I was at a year and a half ago, they’re going to look at this and go, ‘Wow, we actually raised are [sic] really self-assured, young lady,” added Mikaela.
However, a week later, sources close to the Spielberg family illustrated a slightly different picture, telling outlets that both Steven and Kate were “concerned” and “embarrassed” over Mikaela’s new career path despite their full-support.
“As Mikaela said, Steven and Kate are nothing but supportive of her, as they are with all their children,” a family friend told Page Six. “Outwardly, Steven and Kate – who are the most evolved parents in the world and love their kids beyond all measure – have always been supportive of Mikaela and try to understand her. Obviously, though, they’re embarrassed by her sudden public admission of entry into the sex worker world.”
“Nothing can hurt Steven Spielberg’s immaculate reputation, nor Kate’s, but they’re worried about how [Mikaela’s revelation] looks for their other kids, who are trying to be supportive but who are also embarrassed,” the family friend added. “This certainly isn’t how they were raised.”
One week after announcing her new career choice, Mikaela was arrested for domestic violence, which her partner, Chuck Pankow, says was a misunderstanding. Once Mikaela’s Tennessee sex worker license is approved, she allegedly hopes to become an erotic dancer.
