Attorneys prosecuting the case against Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Huffman have requested the star spend one month in jail and pay a $20,000 fine for her role in the college admissions scandal.

NBC News Correspondent Tom Winter reported Friday that prosecutors called Huffman’s conduct “deliberate and manifestly criminal” in a sentencing memo.

“NEW: Federal prosecutors call for Hollywood actress Felicity Huffman to spend a month in prison and pay a $20,000 fine following her guilty plea in the college admissions case,” Winter tweeted. “They write in a sentencing memo that Huffman’s conduct was, ‘deliberate and manifestly criminal.’”

Winter followed up this tweet by reporting that Huffman’s attorneys asked that she receive one year probation and community service instead of jail time.

“NEW: Felicity Huffman, through her attorneys, has asked the judge for one year of probation and community service,” Winter tweeted.

“27 people wrote letters of support to the judge including her husband William Macy and actress Eva Longoria.”

Justin Dougherty, an anchor and reporter for 7News, tweeted a portion of Huffman’s official request, where the actress’s attorneys “respectfully” requested she “be sentenced to a one-year term of probation, with a [sic] 250 hours of community service as a special condition of probation, and the $20,000 fine called for by the Plea Agreement.”

Winter went on to report that Huffman “pleaded guilty earlier this year to committing mail fraud and honest services fraud in connection with a $15,000 payment to have an SAT examination proctor correct one of her daughter’s answers on the test.”

Huffman was one of several Hollywood actors who paid to get their children better SAT scores so that they would get into better colleges. Lori Loughlin has also been accused, but believes she will be acquitted.

In April, The Daily Wire reported that Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli were “planning to plead ignorance in response to charges related to their college bribery case.
