What is the least diverse place in America? It is the very place that should be the most diverse: the college campus.
Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk explains in PragerU’s latest video that college campuses are certainly diverse when it comes to race, gender and sexual orientation, but they are severely lacking in one crucial aspect: “diversity of thought.”
Kirk states that colleges have become left-wing propaganda mills, as the vast majority of professors adhere to a leftist philosophy by a ratio of “nearly 12 to 1, left to right, according to a recent study by Econ Journal Watch.” Kirk notes that it is now rare to have a college professor teach students about the many benefits of capitalism or the destructive realities of socialism.
Additionally, colleges employ administrators who base “their livelihood (that means their paycheck) on creating victims.” Consequently, these administrators perpetuate myths of systemic white oppression, creating a tribalistic atmosphere on campus that stokes tensions along racial, gender and ideological lines.
“In other words, diversity, as practiced on your typical college campus, divides – not unites – people,” Kirk says.
Any speakers who challenge progressive premises and share values and facts that students wouldn’t normally hear in the classroom are frequently targeted by social justice warriors, who attempt to silence them.
“If the ideas of the people on the right have so little merit, why bother to protest?” asks Kirk. “Shouldn’t their bad ideas just die on their own?”
Kirk points out that the leftist propaganda on college campuses and their suppression of conservative thought runs counter to their supposed mission of providing a “liberal education”. This is why it’s time for people to stand up to the academic elites.
“It’s time to diversify thought on campus,” Kirk states. “It’s time to demand a real education. God knows, you’re paying for it.”
