Planned Parenthood is not only on the cutting edge of technology when it comes to ending unborn lives but it’s also on the cutting-edge of propaganda; it’s now employing VR technology to promote its pro-abortion message.
A recent video interview released by Fast Company featured Planned Parenthood executive Dawn Laguens and demonstrated the use of VR technology for supposed “empathy building” by allowing people to walk in the shoes of a helpless young woman on her way into an abortion clinic as cruel protesters confront her “choice.”
Dawn Laguens says of the VR experience:
We produced a virtual reality film called ‘Across the Line’ that gives people the opportunity to step into the shoes of a patient who’s trying to get through a crowd of protestors to get to their appointment. And it’s a really powerful experience, because it turns out, of course, you’ve been threatened with eternal damnation in the lake of fire and called, among the nicest things, a “wicked jezebel feminist” (but many other things), it really does increase your empathy for a person and your willingness to stand up for them to be able to access any care, but especially abortion.
On the website for the short, “Across the Line,” it says the VR scenes were created using a combination of “real audio gathered at protests, scripted scenes, and documentary footage.” The woman undergoing the abortion is obviously an actress, which removes any sense of what actually happens during one of these experiences.
Strangely, the short film avoids portraying the pro-life sidewalk counselors as “fire and brimstone” caricatures. When the woman drives up to the clinic alongside her escort, they meet a sidewalk counselor who advises them gently and peacefully:
Look, there’s a place, it’s very safe down the street … please let me take you there. Please, please. Look, I know you’re struggling with something, alright? But I don’t wanna see you get hurt. I’ve been doing this for eight years. I’ve been counseling out here for eight years, and I see women go in that are struggling with it just like you are, and they come out two hours later, and many of them are hurt and broken. I don’t know what your situation is, but there’s a more dignifying choice for you as a woman and as a mother.
The woman’s escort tells the man that choosing to abort the baby is dignified before driving off, prompting the man to respond with a muffled “we’re gonna pray for you.” At this point the screen fades out and we close in on the woman saying “That is the worst thing I have to see right now.”
Then the film cuts to an audio compilation of truly ugly things that were “recorded at protests across the United States.” The video provides neither video nor locations of these horrible incidents, which could have originated from one or two protests rather than “protests across the United States.”
“You’re a whore,” “maybe your parents should have aborted you,” “God’s gonna destroy you,” are some of the uncharitably ugly statements made on the audio, accompanied by video game-style graphics.
As noted by LifeSiteNews, Planned Parenthood only believes in using visual aids to create “empathy” when it advances their abortion cause, since they denounce other visual aids that create empathy, like ultrasounds, because those are more likely to prevent women from undergoing abortions.
