Obama DOJ Focuses on Domestic Terrorists…Maybe People Just Like You

The Department of Justice has created a new “domestic terrorism” division to combat its true enemy: “homegrown violent extremists,” like the hated constitutionalists, libertarians, and pro-lifers … Wait, what?

“Looking back over the past few years, it is clear that domestic terrorists and homegrown violent extremists remain a real and present danger to the United States,” said the DOJ’s John Carlin at a forum at George Washington University Wednesday. To combat these extremists, the administration has created a new “domestic terrorism counsel.”

Most would agree that domestic terrorism is certainly a major threat in America, but the problem is just exactly whom the administration perceives as potential threats.

Carlin gave a pretty clear indication of the kinds of folks the administration has in mind, explaining that the new counsel would be empowered to combat domestic extremism “motivated by any viewpoint on the full spectrum of hate — anti-government views, racism, bigotry, anarchy and other despicable beliefs” and other forms of “hate and intolerance.”

That “anti–government views” was the first type of “extremism” he mentioned and that radical Islam was somehow left off the list is par for the course for this administration, which, as InfoWars and others point out, has a track record of focusing its attention on “right-wing extremists.”

One example is the Department of Homeland Security’s 2009 report, which specifically cited constitutionalists and libertarians as domestic terrorism threats.

“Militia members most commonly associated with third-party political groups,” the MIAC report warned. “It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitutional Party, Campaign for Liberty or libertarian material.” Other groups who are potential threats according to the report: those who oppose illegal immigration, abortion, and out of control government.

The report cites the Southern Poverty Law Center, a far-left “extremist watchdog” which consistently targets conservative and liberally applies smear labels, like racist, Islamophobic, and homophobic to those on the right while conveniently ignoring true extremists on the left, particularly those who are Islamic. At one point the SPLC listed Ben Carson as an “extremist” for supporting traditional marriage and created a hit list of conservative “women against Islam,” which included Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham. InfoWars reports that the SPLC “has made over $150 million in the past 20 years from advising law enforcement on conservative and libertarian ‘extremism.'”
