During the chaotic Democratic debate in Charleston, South Carolina Tuesday night, the since much-maligned moderators allowed the inmates to run the asylum, and the result was a bunch of frustrated candidates and viewers alike, with online response to the latest #DemDebate overwhelmingly negative. But some folks had some fun with the debacle on social media, among them comedian Norm Macdonald, who live-tweeted the event.

Among the moments that Macdonald offered his comedic commentary on was the most viral exchange of the night: Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) “kill it” comment directed at billionaire Mike Bloomberg.

“When I was 21 years old, I got my first job as a special education teacher,” said Warren. “I loved that job. And by the end of the first year, I was year, I was visibly pregnant. The the principal wished me luck and gave my job to someone else. Pregnancy discrimination, you bet. But I was 21 years old. I didn’t have a union to protect me. And I didn’t have any federal law on my side. So I packed up my stuff, and I went home. At least I didn’t have a boss who said to me, ‘kill it,’ the way that mayor Bloomberg is alleged to have said to one of his pregnant employees.”

“I never said that,” said Bloomberg. “I never said that, and for the record if she was a teacher in New York City she would never have had that problem.”

Warren’s reference was to an ultimately settled lawsuit against Bloomberg brought by a former female employee who said he told her upon learning that she was pregnant that she should “Kill it.” The claim was recently backed up by another former Bloomberg employee who told The Washington Post that he witnessed the exchange.

But Macdonald’s response to the moment had nothing to do with its veracity, rather, Warren’s grave misstep in terms of the Progressive Left’s radical views on unborn children.

“Warren says Bloomberg told a pregnant women to ‘kill it’. Impossible to kill a fetus. Shame on you, Senator warren,” Macdonald tweeted mockingly (post below).

The post was one of a series of live tweets responding to the debate. After announcing that the quickly chaotic event had officially begun, Macdonald began offering his reactions.

First up: his hope that CBS News host moderator Gayle King wouldn’t end up reviving the controversy that has plagued her for the last few weeks. “Hoping Gayle King does not bring up Kobe,” he wrote in reference to King’s interview in which she asked a former WNBA player if a past sexual assault claim against Bryant “complicated” his legacy.

The comedian then mused on the fundamental flaw of the Democrats’ minimum wage priority. “The sad thing is even if you double the minimum wage, it will remain the minimum wage,” he tweeted.

“Bloomberg just apologized for frisk but will not apologize for stop,” he wrote in his next debate post.

After a note on how embattled former frontrunner Joe Biden was being helped by Tom Steyer, Macdonald responded to a statement by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) about the coronavirus.

“Klobuchar said the vaccine for the corona Virus is in some kid’s head in West Virgina. Find this goddam kid. NOW!!!!!!!!” he wrote.
