Joe Scarborough, the co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” was not alone in concluding that left-wing media bias has become entrenched in the major networks.
“Name the single Republican that has hosted a Sunday show, that has been an anchor of a news network for the big three networks over the past 50 years,” said Scarborough, “You cannot do it!” His fellow co-host and guests, including Mark Halperin, agreed.
The comment came during a discussion of the disastrous CNBC debate and the larger problem of left-wing bias in the media. Scarborough argued that the leftist political leanings of George Stephanopoulos and others appeared to be just fine with networks, while conservative anchors and debate hosts were unacceptable to the big three (ABC, CBS, and NBC).
“Name the single Republican that has hosted a Sunday show, that has been an anchor of a news network for the big three networks over the past 50 years. You cannot do it!” said Scarborough. “So we Republicans … we’re told to sit back.”
“The people that run the Sunday shows are all Democrats,” said Scarborough. “I’m not just talking about today. I’m talking about for the past 50 years. The people that have run the network newscasts — the nightly newscasts have been all Democrats. The network executives have been all Democrats.”
“I agree with you 100%,” said Halperin. “There’s a huge liberal media bias. Not just in the examples you’ve given but in less prominent people,” he explained, adding, “All I’m saying is find the few people who don’t fit in that category and get objective journalists.”
