On Monday, conservative columnist Michelle Malkin completely destroyed Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky while debating the issue of guns and radical Islam on Fox News’ Hannity.
Hannity began the segment by discussing how Liberty University president Jerry Falwell, Jr.’s told students, “I’ve always thought if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in.”
Hannity asked Roginsky if she would want Hannity, who has a concealed carry permit, in the room with her if a shooter came in; Roginsky simply dodged the question.
“How well-trained are you? I don’t know how well-trained you are,” Roginsky said.
After Hannity gave a lengthy list of his qualifications as a well-trained gun owner, Roginsky gave a rather timid reply.
“Here’s my question: Do you want me in that room? Because I have the same access to guns as you would and I have no idea how to shoot anybody,” Roginsky said. “That’s the difficulty.”
Malkin responded by saying she would absolutely want Hannity in the room:
“I’d want every grown woman in that room to also be trained and armed and I’m going to make sure that my own daughter, who is now a teenager, understands that, of course, being armed in self-defense is the great equalizer, whether you’re talking about defending against a rapist or a jihadist,” Malkin said. “And this whole brouhaha over Mr. Falwell’s very common-sense and rational remarks just shows you that so much of the culture, the political culture and the media, is far more comfortable in demonizing law-abiding Christians who espouse self-defense, armed self-defense, than they are in exposing and calling out and demonizing jihadists who want to kill us by any means necessary.”
Hannity remarked that Roginsky would be “foolish” not to have somebody armed like him in the room since he, and other licensed gun owners, could save innocent lives. He called the clamor for gun control an “obfuscation.”
“This is not about gun control,” Malkin said. “The fight against jihad is not about gun control. It’s about border control. It’s about jihad control.”
Malkin also said that by focusing on gun control, “we play into the hands of the entire secular progressive left and the gun-grabbers” and that instead we should talk about how Hillary Clinton has “far tougher words for Jerry Falwell and Christians who are armed in self-defense than she has for all of the jihad-enabling front groups out there.”
