On Thursday, reports circulated that Meghan Markle, who recently exited from her royal duties with husband Prince Harry, is on the hunt for a Hollywood agent.
Before getting pregnant and wedding the prince, Markle was an actress on USA Network show “Suits.”
Reacting to the report, Sky News Australia host James Morrow said the whole “equation” was rather “sad,” predicting that Markle’s “biggest headline” in a few years from now will be about the former royal getting in a fight about the “dress code at a Qantas lounge somewhere.”
Ouch.
“Her acting career wasn’t all that hot before she hooked up with the prince,” Morrow said via Sky News airwaves on Thursday.
“I just kind of feel sorry for this whole equation, I feel like she’ll get a bit of work out of the publicity around this. But I just don’t know if the former ‘Suits’ star will get the big Hollywood roles she’s looking for,” he continued.
“I feel like we are only a few years away from Meghan Markle’s biggest headline being she gets in a fight with what she is wearing in terms of the dress code in a Qantas lounge somewhere,” Morrow dropped, prompting a chuckle from the Sky News host.
“I just don’t feel like this career is going a long way for her,” he added.
A source told US Weekly on Wednesday that “Meghan is actively looking for representation” in Hollywood.
“She has begun outreach,” the source said. “It can be a manager or an agent, but she’s reaching out to people to find someone to represent her for future professional projects.”
Prince Harry has been Markle’s de facto agent thus far, it seems. As noted by The Daily Wire earlier this month, resurfaced video shows the prince pressing Disney CEO Bob Iger for voiceover work for his wife. Here’s the exchange:
“You know she does voiceovers,” Harry can be heard telling Mr. Iger at the “Lion King” premiere in July.
“Oh, really?” responds Iger, standing alongside his wife, who looks taken aback by the interaction.
“Did you know that?” Harry persists. “You seem surprised. … She’s really interested.”
“Sure,” the Disney CEO agrees. “We’d love to try.”
On Thursday, Morrow called the video “one of the most uncomfortable things to watch.”
Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan announced their royal split, which reportedly came as a shock to the Queen.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” the couple said in a joint statement.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” Harry and Meghan continued. “It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”
