Was it not just two months prior that the leftwing Politico was squeeeeeing! with glee over how that awful Donald Trump was serving as “rocket fuel” for Democrat fundraising? Why, yes — yes it was. Wow, what a difference two months and a healthy dose of reality makes, because… Despite enjoying the 24/7 support of that leftwing, corporate-sponsored super PAC we call the mainstream media, Democrat fundraising did not just collapse in May, it collapsed to a low unseen in 14 years:
The Democratic National Committee raised only $4.29 million in May, the organization’s worst fundraising performance in that month since 2003, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.
In May 2003, the DNC raised $2.7 million, but since that time, the party’s worst totals in May had previously been $4.5 million in both 2005 and 2015. It is common for fundraising totals to dip in the year following a presidential election race.
Yes, it is common for fundraising totals to dip in off-years, but just last month, in April — you know, a mere 30 days after that Politico squeeeee! ran — Democrats collected just $4.7 million, their worst showing since 2009. And there have been nearly 10 off-years since 2003. This off-year just seems to be a particularly off off-year.
Meanwhile, during this terrible off-year, the Republican National Committee is — get this — breaking fundraising records, but in a good way. What I mean is that for the merry ol’ month of May, Republicans raised more money than ever:
Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Finance Chairman Steve Wynn announced the RNC raised $10.8 million in May, a new post-presidential record, and $61.9 million overall in 2017.
How can this possibly be?
Do you not watch cable news?
Do you not read The New York Times and The Washington Post?
If you do, you know that there is no way this can be happening because according to our Media Betters, according to their infallible analysis and just as infallible polls, according to their big-thinks and hot-takes and the wisdom they like to call conventional, Democrats are WOKE, BABY! The Left is fired up and ready to go, desperate to vote, chomping at the bit to end the era of OrangeHitler before it can even begin.
Trump is doomed! Republicans are doomed! The science is settled! And in order to believe this, you must only stop looking at Reality because reality is not real. Democrats losing all of those special elections, including this latest one in Georgia — that’s not the issue, you science-denying freak. Democrats unable to raise money — that’s not the issue, you something-something denier. If you want to know what is really happening out there, stop looking at concrete evidence and start watching CNN while you Google “Democrats energized” … because it is the job of the MSM to define what is and is not real.
Seriously, though, the drubbing of Jon Ossoff in Georgia Tuesday, combined with two months of horrific Democrat fundraising numbers, only serves to prove once again just how much power the mainstream media in this country has lost, just how little moral authority these blow-dried serial liars have left.
Not only did Ossoff outspend his Republican conqueror seven-fold, but after doing so we learned that Rodney Stooksbury (who?), the Democrat who last ran in that same district in 2016, spent ZERO dollars and still won more votes than Osoff.
Forget about Democrats. As a political party, they are toast, out of gas, doornail dead. The real story here is the growing impotence of a national media that can no longer move the needle. The $30 million Ossoff spent is a drop in the bucket compared to all the free local and national advertising he received from a mainstream media desperate to see Trump humiliated.
The story here is a national media so feckless and distrusted, so defanged and despised, that even after nearly a year of pushing their phony Russian conspiracy, even during the hot months when they tried to shove it all into a frame of phony obstruction against Trump, the real-life, on-the-ground referendums on Trump (actual votes and dollars) are all moving away from the MSM.
If the national media is moving the needle of public opinion at all anymore, it is only, through a public backlash, moving in the opposite direction.
