In a campaign that focuses on equality for all women, feminist magazine Marie Claire interviewed “50 influential women” on why they’re voting in the 2018 midterms. There’s just one problem. Influential conservative women didn’t make the list.
Except for a couple of tokens like Jenna Bush and Gretchen Carlson, the only women Marie Claire found to share their reasons for voting were those with a liberal or hard leftist agenda. No conservative activists or artists. No Republican congresswomen. No Trump supporters. Just the typical line-up of women from organizations the feminist overlords deemed worthy: NARAL Pro-Choice America, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Clinton Foundation, Black Lives Matter, Emily’s List, and the Barack Obama Presidential Center.
Where are influential women from the Tea Party, the NRA, National Right to Life, Americans for Prosperity, Concerned Women for America, or the Independent Women’s Forum, just to name a few?
Actress and director Lucy Liu says she’s voting “Because none of us are equal until all of us are equal,” but where’s the equality here? There isn’t any. While many feminists advocate causes that have nothing to do with discrimination—such as wage disparity due to women’s free choices regarding employment—they hypocritically discriminate against anyone who disagrees with them while acting as if they represent all women.
Here are some quotes by these paragons of influence in our culture, women who speak about diversity and equality but fail to live up to their own ideals:
Hillary Clinton, 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee: “These are divisive times, but I believe with all of my heart that human beings have a yearning for freedom and dignity embedded in all of us. It’s that fundamental quality that pulls us toward progress—but not if we don’t participate. That’s why I’m voting.”
Cynthia Nixon, Former NY Gubernatorial Candidate and Actress: “I’m voting on November 6 because if we don’t use our power, there’ll be no one in Washington to stop Trump from using his.”
Alyssa Milano, Actress and Activist: “We cannot allow another generation of women and children to grow up knowing the United States government views them as less than human. We cannot let Donald Trump be the lasting face of who we are as a nation. On November 6th, we have a change to break the GOP’s stranglehold. We can flood the polls so that this government of the fratboy, by the fratboy, for the fratboy will perish from this earth.”
Alexandria Occasio-Cortez, Democratic U.S. House Candidate (NY-14): “We need improved Medicare for all because healthcare should be a human right that no one has to go bankrupt to pay for. We need a Green New Deal to fight climate change and put people to work in safe industries with living wages. We need to fight to strengthen organized labor in this country against Republican attacks, letting everyone unionize for living wages and freedom from exploitation. I’m voting because our basic human dignity is at stake.”
Jaclyn Corin, Parkland Student Activist: “I’m voting to assure that no child has to fall asleep to the sound of roaring gunshots. I’m voting because 100 years ago I wouldn’t have been able to.”
Amirah Vann, Actress: “Regrets suck. VOTE! Diversity in America is what makes us so special. …”
Yeah, diversity is great, except among the pages of Marie Claire magazine.
For the sake of diversity and equality, here’s why I’m voting in the 2018 midterms:
Because the Democratic Party no longer represents individual liberty as it once did. It has strayed into a Marxist quagmire that is feeding conflict and hatred in our nation, pushing false narratives of systemic discrimination and inequality meant to sow chaos and division.
We cannot give power to people who believe that half of America are Nazis who need to be silenced, whose voices cannot be heard even on social media, and who are threatened with violence when they speak for liberty and against centralized government.
I will vote because I believe governing is best done locally—a concept the Democratic Party has forgotten. I will vote because I value our great nation and don’t want it overrun with people who have violated our laws to be here. I will vote because I think abortion is a great evil that should not be fixed in federal law but determined by the states.
I will vote because I don’t believe men are natural predators whose due process rights must be ignored simply because a woman has made an accusation. I have sons, a father, a husband, and a brother, and I will not stand by and allow their rights to be threatened by anyone who seeks to reign through identity politics.
