A large majority of Americans believe the border situation is a crisis and do not approve of how President Joe Biden is handling it, according to a recent CNN poll.
Of those polled, 78% view what is going on at the border as a crisis, compared to only 19% who believe otherwise. CNN also determined that 65% of voters disapprove of how Biden is handling the situation, which contrasts sharply with the 29% who approve.
The poll, which questioned 1,004 people between April 21-26 with a margin of error of 3.6 points, also discerned that the chaos at the border has led voters to lose enthusiasm regarding Biden’s overall immigration agenda. Those who disapproved of how the president is handling immigration polled at 53%, compared to 41% who approve.
Biden received higher approval ratings for his handling of the pandemic, environmental policy, racial injustice, the economy, taxes, and foreign affairs.
Biden’s approval rating overall has recently ranked among historic lows, as The Daily Wire reported:
President Joe Biden’s approval rating at the 100-day mark of his presidency is the “third-lowest” since tracking began in 1945, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll.
“All told, 52% of Americans in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll approve of Biden’s work in office, lower than any president at 100 days in office since 1945, save Gerald Ford in 1974 (48%, after his unpopular pardon of Richard Nixon) and Donald Trump at 42% in 2017,” ABC News reported. “For the 14 presidents from Truman to Biden, the 100-day average is 66%.”
“Biden’s honeymoon appears to be ending, if it was even there in the first place,” ABC political director Rick Klein said. “What’s so striking here is, you can at the same time say President Biden is in so much stronger position than his predecessor, but so much weaker than almost everyone else that we’ve seen at this point in a presidency.”
The Daily Wire’s Chrissy Clark recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border to report on the conditions there, which she said have worsened since Biden’s inauguration. As The Daily Wire reported:
Biden and the Democrats want America to believe that there is nothing dangerous about thousands of migrants crossing our border. We’ve seen what Border Patrol agents described as the most chaotic months they’ve ever experienced, bringing the system — and many of them personally — to the breaking point.
The Biden administration has dubbed the border a “challenge” and refuses to call it what it is — a crisis.
We witnessed firsthand the influx of migrants in the area. Children are being ferried over by human traffickers on rafts in the dead of night. Migrants, many of them teens and younger, are packed together behind metal fences, waiting to be relocated to detention centers. Human traffickers cross back and forth over the border with relative ease.
The border wall is not finished and remains partially open for migrants to traverse easily.
