Madonna said during a recent interview that she’s still trying to strike a balance between being a mom and having a career.

The 64-year-old pop icon made the comments during a cover story for Vanity Fair this month. “Growing up with a mother like me is a challenge,” Madonna admitted. “It has been the most difficult, the hardest battle.”

The “Papa Don’t Preach” singer is a mom to six kids. She had Lourdes Leon, 26, with former boyfriend Carlos Leon, and Rocco Ritchie, 22, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. David Banda Ciccone, 17; Mercy James Ciccone, 16; and 10-year-old twins Estere and Stelle Ciccone, were all adopted.

“Today, I am still struggling to understand how to be a mother and do my job,” Madonna said. “Because, whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art. And no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that requires a lot of time. And it is exhausting because there is never rest.”

Madonna just announced a tour in North America and Europe where she’ll perform shows in 35 cities featuring four decades of her music

She has been making headlines for racy photos and videos she posts on social media, including images of her in lingerie and posing provocatively. These images were mocked by 50 Cent.

“Yo this is the funniest s*** LOL,” the 46-year-old rapper wrote in response to one of Madonna’s photos.

“That’s Madonna under the bed trying to do like a virgin at 63. She shot out, if she don’t get her old a** up,” he wrote.

“I hope she didn’t make her kids take this picture. LOL at 63 somebody tell her to chill out please,” the rapper wrote in response to another photo, echoing what many other followers were saying.

Madonna responded to 50 Cent criticizing her posts.

“Here is 50 Cent pretending to be my friend,” she wrote alongside a photo of the two singers hugging each other.

“Now you have decided to talk smack about me. I guess your new career is getting attention by trying to humiliate others on social media. The least elevated choice you could make as an artist and an adult.”
