Lumber 84’s Super Bowl Ad Is Nonsense. Here’s How Immigration Really Works.

Which anti-conservative slur is the most dishonest? It’s liberals, not conservatives, who have destroyed black America by destroying the black family. It’s liberals, not conservatives, who pay women less on their presidential campaigns. And it’s liberals, not conservatives, who really hate American immigration when it also means integration.

With the construction of the southern border wall, and the travel suspension for countries with close terrorism ties, conservatives are once again being painted as anti-immigrant. Thankfully, the compassionate liberals that work in ad agencies were here to instruct us on our backward ways with a series of Super Bowl ads designed to elevate us to their moral level. They will never really stop thinking of us as bigots, because if your entire party identity is a one-trick pony, then you had better know how to do the trick. But it’s the thought that counts.

The most egregious of these commercials, to me, was the one made for a company called 84 Lumber. In it we see a young mother and her daughter, struggling for mile after mile of brutal desert heat, begging for water from a kindly, middle-aged man. Finally, they approach The Wall, all of their struggles apparently in vain. Then the young daughter reaches into her knapsack and removes a tattered American flag. All of their long dreams of freedom smashed by Cheeto Hitler and his Nazi followers.

But yonder stands a huge gate in this concrete wall! The wooden gate opens to let them in. Thank God for lumber companies or they would have died out there.

There is so much wrong with this that it is hard to know where to begin.

First of all, I don’t imagine that much of the illegal immigration from Mexico consists of a young woman and her single small child walking here alone. If this ad had any integrity – you know, a remote connection to the truth – then the young mother would be walking across the badlands as part of a group of 20-50 people, herded and driven by several Mexican coyotes armed with AK-47’s, which are to be used if they have to drop some gringos on the way to Gringoland. A much, much more believable version of this story would have had the beautiful young woman raped by her Mexican guards, and the little child would have a kilo or two of cocaine or heroin in her knapsack.

Second, very few of the people entering the southern border are clutching American flags, dreaming of political freedom. They are clutching Mexican flags, and dreaming of economic opportunity. When American teams are roundly booed in matches against Mexico – that would be here in Los Angeles – the whole start-a-new-life-as-Americans dream of the 84 Lumber commercial starts to seriously unravel.

Now, does stating this truth and pointing out these lies make me anti-immigrant? That seems unlikely considering my engagement to one of them. And because of that relationship, I got to see something I had thought had virtually disappeared because I keep getting morality lessons from progressives at 84 Lumber.

I got to meet immigrants. Not religious refugees with values antithetical to those of America, and not armed invasions of people simply looking for work.

I got to meet two families of Russian and Ukrainian origin who have filled out the forms, spent money on the lawyers, waited in line, but most importantly of all, I met people whose hearts are American and whose work ethic is infinitely higher than these Millennials protesting the results of an election and most especially higher than the leftist professors who we pay huge sums of money to in order to remove intelligence from and add indoctrination to our children.

I met people who instantly, in broken English but in English, began asking me questions not of benefits or aid programs, but rather nearly insatiable questions on how our government works. They simply could not get enough of it.

There are no politics as we understand the term in modern Russia. Putin will do what he wants to do, and the people do not discuss politics because the people of Russia have no say in politics. Here, however, they watched in amazement and awe as the American people stood up to Hillary’s corruption machine, the hurricane headwind of news media bias, the bleating of celebrities and all the rest only to see the voice of the people triumphant over that kind of entrenched power.

They are here to start a church; a church that will turn Eastern European immigrants into Americans by teaching them the priceless value of religious and economic freedom coupled with nothing but hard work and faith in their idea that hard work will eventually pay off in America.

They told me how the greatest recruiting tool they had for Russians in Moscow was to host an American Thanksgiving dinner and talk about the power of gratitude and humility. They impressed me so much that I made Thanksgiving dinner for them last November; in fact, they impressed me so much that I decided to spend most of my free time for six weeks producing a video to tell their story. They are working as house cleaners while they pursue their own unique American dream, and if you have six minutes you can learn more about them here.
