Tom Ellis, the actor who plays Satan on the Netflix show “Lucifer,” is living up to his character’s name by encouraging fans to donate to Planned Parenthood for his wedding in place of gifts.
According to LifeSiteNews, Ellis pinned a tweet from May 22 in which he announced his upcoming wedding to writer/actress Meaghan Oppenheimer asking that people send their money to America’s abortion conglomerate in their nuptials’ honor.
“Thank you to all the people that have been asking about wedding gifts or charitable donations for my upcoming nuptials with @MoppyOpps that is so kind,” he tweeted. “If you would like to make a donation to @PPFA #plannedparenthood we would be very grateful.”
Ellis’ fiancee later joined the chorus by also tweeting her wish to see her wedding honored with donations to Planned Parenthood. “We’ve had some people asking where they can donate or send gifts in honor of @tomellis17 and my upcoming wedding,” she tweeted. “We want to thank everyone for their thoughtfulness and ask that, if you feel like it, you donate to Planned Parenthood @PPFA – thank you! #StoptheBans.”
Both Ellis and Oppenheimer are well within the Hollywood mainstream by promoting abortion so forcefully in the wake of every major Hollywood studio, including Netflix, threatening to boycott the state of Georgia for passing a fetal heartbeat bill to protect unborn babies from abortion the moment doctors detect a heartbeat in the womb. Speaking with LifeSiteNews, Dan Gainor, Media Research Center (MRC) vice president for MRC TechWatch, said the abortion protests are beginning to borderline on self-parody in light of the fact that the actor who plays Satan wants people to support abortion to honor his nuptials.
“This story is almost a satire on Hollywood,” Gainor said. “The actor who plays Satan, but as a lovable good guy, wants people to help kill babies … to celebrate his wedding. It’s almost like he learned method acting so much that he just embraced the reality of Lucifer, not the TV propaganda version.”
Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, also told the outlet that these types of ridiculous protests will become commonplace as the pro-life movement feels more and more emboldened to pass laws against the practice.
“They feel they have to strike back. Good. They should get used to it, along with Alyssa Milano and the whole Hollywood crowd,” Pavone said. “Second, the fact that many think this donation arrangement is a ‘nice’ idea shows the ignorance many people have in thinking Planned Parenthood has anything to do with parenthood, and that it’s a health organization rather than a corrupt, racist political and criminal enterprise.”
“What an irony,” Pavone concluded. “A Google search on the series ‘Lucifer’ reveals what it’s about in these words: ‘Lucifer, the original fallen angel, … has become dissatisfied with his life in hell. After abandoning his throne and retiring to Los Angeles, Lucifer indulges in his favorite things (women, wine and song) — until a murder takes place outside of his upscale nightclub. For the first time in billions of years, the murder awakens something unfamiliar in Lucifer’s soul that is eerily similar to compassion and sympathy.’”
