New York Governor Kathy Hochul refused on Thursday to extradite an abortionist accused of illegally mailing an abortion pill to a Louisiana mother who allegedly pressured her minor daughter into ending the life of her unborn child.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed an <a href="https://gov.louisiana.gov/assets/2025-Extras/Extradition-warran-Doctor-Margaret-Carpenter.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extradition warrant</a> this week for New York abortionist Margaret Carpenter after she was indicted on charges of criminal abortion by means of abortion-inducing drugs. Hochul said that she would not sign Louisiana’s order of extradition, citing the state&#8217;s abortion &#8220;shield&#8221; laws.
“This office received an order of extradition for a New York doctor, an abortion provider who lives upstate. In the state of New York, at my direction, we have put in place strict shield laws that anticipated this very situation,” Hochul <a href="https://x.com/GovKathyHochul/status/1890175495670775913" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “We knew &#8230; we had providers who could be vulnerable. Louisiana has changed their laws, but that has no bearing on the laws here in the state of New York.”
“Doctors take an oath to protect their patients. I took an oath of office to protect all New Yorkers. And I will uphold not only our constitution, but the laws of our land,” she said.
Carpenter is accused of mailing abortion drugs to a woman in Louisiana who then pressured her underage daughter into taking them and ending the life of her unborn child.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill <a href="https://x.com/AGLizMurrill/status/1890214240142913793" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shot back</a> at Hochul, saying that she was covering up for a “drug dealer.”
“This child was NOT this doctor’s patient. She never met her, saw her, or knew anything about her. The child is a victim. [Hochul] is protecting a drug dealer who victimized a child,” Murrill posted on X.
Landry <a href="https://gov.louisiana.gov/news/4764" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that the minor was “excited” to have the baby and was planning a gender reveal party before her mother intervened.

“Her mom conspired with a New York doctor to get a chemical abortion pill in the mail and then forced that minor to take it,” Landry said as he signed the extradition order. “This pill ended up ending her pregnancy and that baby’s life.”
Carpenter was also sued by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-stops-radical-abortionist-unlawfully-supplying-dangerous-drugs-kill#:~:text=Attorney%20General%20Ken%20Paxton%20has,in%20violation%20of%20state%20law." target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> a $100,000 penalty and permanent injunction against her on Friday. He sued Carpenter for allegedly sending abortion pills into Texas in violation of state law.
“In Texas, we will always protect innocent life and uphold the laws that protect mothers and unborn babies,” Paxton said Friday. “Radical out-of-state doctors will not be allowed to peddle dangerous and illegal drugs in Texas to kill unborn babies. Any doctor attempting to do so will be punished to the full extent of the law.”

Louisiana Battles New York Over Abortionist Accused Of Mailing Abortion Drugs

Florida high school students were drilled for being straight, asked to consider being gay, and told that straight people are to blame for overpopulation, according to course materials obtained by The Daily Wire.
During a course for high school children in Miami-Dade County, students were assigned to complete a sexuality-focused questionnaire that asked a series of bizarre questions such as: &#8220;What do you think caused your heterosexuality?&#8221;; &#8220;Is it possible that being straight is just a phase you may grow out of?”; and, “Considering the menace of hunger and overpopulation, could the human race survive if everyone were straight like yourself?”
Parents were shocked to learn that a professor made their children answer questions like this as part of a Miami-Dade College course being offered to high schoolers. The<a href="https://www.mdc.edu/asa/documents/competencies/pdf/SLS1510%20Preparing%20for%20Student%20Success.pdf"> course</a>, called &#8220;Preparing for Student Success,&#8221; was designed for students to develop academic goals and come up with strategies to succeed in college and offered in Miami-Dade County, an area that has<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/floridas-miami-dade-county-flips-red-in-voter-registration-for-first-time-in-history"> turned red</a> in recent years. 
“It&#8217;s not normal. I mean imagine if a person, anyone, goes close to your son and asks him these questions, I’d call the police,” a concerned mother whose son was enrolled in the class told The Daily Wire. “It&#8217;s perversion. Why are you talking about their sexuality to 15-year-old boys or girls? It&#8217;s absolutely sick. It’s sick.”
Other questions posed to the children included, &#8220;To whom have you disclosed your straight tendencies?&#8221; and &#8220;Why do you insist on showing off your heterosexuality?&#8221; The questionnaire ended by asking students what their reaction to it was and &#8220;about the assumptions you hold about what others are like.&#8221;
The questions come from the textbook &#8220;POWER: Strategies for Success in College and Life&#8221; by Robert Feldman, a senior research associate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The textbook was printed by McGraw Hill, one of the largest academic publishers in the United States whose products are used in 13,000 K-12 school districts across the country.
After being contacted by The Daily Wire, Miami-Dade College said that it had reviewed the assignment and determined that it would no longer be used.
&#8220;Miami-Dade College is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and academically sound learning environment for all students,&#8221; the college told The Daily Wire. &#8220;In response to concerns raised about a classroom assignment, we have conducted a thorough review of the assignment, and it will no longer be used. We expect all those who teach to uphold these standards and will ensure any necessary adjustments are made.&#8221;
The other questions on the assignment were as follows: &#8220;when and how did you decide you were straight?&#8221;; &#8220;is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?&#8221;; &#8220;There seem to be many unhappy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you to change your sexual orientation. Have you considered changing?&#8221; and, &#8220;why do straights place so much emphasis on sex?&#8221;
According to the textbook, the questionnaire was adopted from the work of Martin Rochlin, a gay rights activist and founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Center of Los Angeles who developed the &#8220;Heterosexual Questionnaire&#8221; in 1972.

The concerned mother whose son was forced to take the quiz told The Daily Wire that the questionnaire was included in the textbook as means of indoctrination.
She noted that dual enrollment classes are typically recommended for students looking to receive Florida&#8217;s Bright Futures Scholarship, a lottery funded-scholarship for top performing high school academic achievers. She said that teachers should avoid discussing issues of sexuality altogether.
&#8220;You don&#8217;t talk about these things, especially with kids. If you are a math teacher, you teach math,” she said. “These types of courses shouldn&#8217;t exist.”
She also voiced concerns about another questionnaire featured in the textbook on its chapter on diversity. One activity encourages students to determine the diversity of their campus by getting statistics of how many racial minorities attend their school, while another encourages them to &#8220;check your stereotype quotient.&#8221; That includes questions like, &#8220;If you found out that a star professional football player is gay, would you be surprised?&#8221;
The mother told The Daily Wire that she was contacted by the office of the president of Miami-Dade College and assured her that concerns would be addressed. They said the school told them that the quiz would no longer be administered and indicated that they would focus their teaching on what was academically appropriate.
Some parents believe that the content in the quiz may violate<a href="http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=1000-1099/1006/Sections/1006.31.html"> Florida law</a> requiring content to be &#8220;accurate, objective, balanced&#8221; and &#8220;noninflammatory.&#8221;
In its statement to The Daily Wire, Miami-Dade College said that it would continue to provide education that follows state requirements.
&#8220;We are committed to creating a learning environment where students are successful and have the support to achieve academic excellence through fair and unbiased grading practices. We appreciate the engagement of our students, families, and school partners as we remain focused on delivering high-quality education that adheres to state guidelines,&#8221; the college said
The controversy over the curriculum comes as Miami-Dade County has shifted significantly to the right electorally in recent years. President Donald Trump won the county by over 10 points in 2024. ‘Have You Considered Changing?’: Florida Teens Asked To Consider Becoming Gay In Class Assignment

President Donald Trump’s tariffs on steel and aluminum imports jumped up to 50% on Wednesday as he continues to push for American trading partners to propose new trade deals to avoid heightened levies.
In an executive order signed Tuesday, Trump said it was necessary to double steel and aluminum tariffs for national security purposes. The hike comes as the White House <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-warns-trade-partners-that-deadline-for-new-proposals-looms-friendly-reminder?author=Tim+Pearce&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Warns+Trade+Partners+That+Deadline+For+New+Proposals+Looms%3A+‘Friendly+Reminder’">gave</a> a Wednesday deadline for American trading partners to submit counterproposals to the &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs Trump imposed back in April. 
“In my judgment, the increased tariffs will more effectively counter foreign countries that continue to offload low-priced, excess steel and aluminum in the United States market and thereby undercut the competitiveness of the United States steel and aluminum industries,” Trump wrote in the executive order. “I have determined that increasing the previously imposed tariffs will provide greater support to these industries and reduce or eliminate the national security threat posed by imports of steel and aluminum articles and their derivative articles.” 
Trump first announced last week that he would take action to increase the tariffs on steel and aluminum, saying it would help the industry and American workers. 
“Our steel and aluminum industries are coming back like never before. This will be yet another BIG jolt of great news for our wonderful steel and aluminum workers,” he <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114599330494282325">said</a> in a Truth Social post after a speech at a steel plant in Pennsylvania on Friday.
Last month, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/made-in-america-trump-says-u-s-steel-will-remain-in-pittsburgh-partner-with-japanese-company?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=24&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=‘Made+In+America’%3A+Trump+Says+U.S.+Steel+Will+Remain+In+Pittsburgh%2C+Partner+With+Japanese+Company" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that U.S. Steel, once the largest steel company in the world, would partner with the Japanese company Nippon Steel. U.S. Steel, which has struggled in recent years, was set to be sold to the Japanese company before the deal was blocked by former President Joe Biden. The company will remain headquartered in Pittsburgh, and Trump said the partnership would result in 70,000 jobs. 
The tariff increases come after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said American trading partners had been reminded that the deadline to propose new trade agreements with the United States was on Wednesday, saying &#8220;the president expects good deals,&#8221; adding, &#8220;And we are on track for that, I will emphasize.&#8221; 
Most of Trump’s reciprocal tariffs have been paused until July 8 to allow time for negotiations.
 One major trade deal with the United Kingdom has already been announced, but talks with China have been rocky. After agreeing to significantly lower tariffs, Trump accused the communist country of violating their agreement. 
Trump said Wednesday on Truth Social that Chinese President Xi Jinping was being difficult in negotiations. 
“I like President XI of China, always have, and always will, but he is VERY TOUGH, AND EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH!!!”

Trump Doubles Tariffs On Steel And Aluminum Imports As Trade Deadline Hits

The YMCA scrubbed guidance from its website saying that its campers should have access to bathrooms and cabins based on their gender identities after a campaign from a conservative parent group warned about the organization&#8217;s transgender policies. 
On Wednesday, The Daily Wire exclusively reported that American Parents Coalition had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-sound-alarm-on-ymca-camps-allowing-men-in-girls-showers-and-cabins?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Parents+Sound+Alarm+On+YMCA+Camps+Allowing+Boys+In+Girls%E2%80%99+Showers+And+Cabins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> its followers that YMCA camps across the country allow boys who identify as girls into female facilities. By Friday, the YMCA had either scrubbed or restricted access to much of the content on its website related to gender ideology and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
“After being called out for prioritizing radical, gender ideology over child safety, the YMCA is scrambling to delete and hide the evidence,” American Parents Coalition Executive Director Alleigh Marré told The Daily Wire. “The YMCA can delete and hide as many web pages as they want, but American Parents Coalition will continue to push for policies that protect girls in sports and in private spaces.”
dOne of the <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/create-safe-spaces-for-lgbtq-campers">pages</a> that appears to have been removed from the website was called “How to Create a Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Campers” and was posted in 2017.  This archived <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240614040539/https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/create-safe-spaces-for-lgbtq-campers">page</a> included recommendations that “all campers and staff have access to the facilities aligned with their gender identity and comfort within facility and resource limitations.” 
Other recommendations included working to “confound gender-based assumptions,” using “gender-neutral (or self-identified) pronouns,” marketing featuring same-sex couples or transgender individuals, partnering with organizations that “serve the LGBTQ+ community,” and celebrating Pride month. 
Already at YMCA facilities across the country, women and girls have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/82-year-old-woman-sues-after-disturbing-trans-incident-at-ymca-pool" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complained</a> about the presence of males in their locker rooms and shower areas. And certain camps, such as Camp Olson in Minnesota, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-sound-alarm-on-ymca-camps-allowing-men-in-girls-showers-and-cabins?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Parents+Sound+Alarm+On+YMCA+Camps+Allowing+Boys+In+Girls%E2%80%99+Showers+And+Cabins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stipulate</a> that access to restrooms and overnight accommodations be based on gender identity.

Another YMCA webpage that was <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/y-community/affirming-lgbtq-communities-with-pride" target="_blank" rel="noopener">restricted</a> was called “Affirming LGBTQ+ Communities with Pride.” This page <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250120190630/https://www.ymca.org/ystories/diversity-equity-inclusion/affirming-lgbtq-communities-with-pride" target="_blank" rel="noopener">directed</a> visitors to radical organizations like the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/schools-across-u-s-push-kids-to-chatrooms-where-they-can-talk-transgenderism-with-lgbtq-adults" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trevor Project</a>, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Gay, Lesbian &amp; Straight Education Network (GLSEN). 
The page also recommended working “with local officials, organizations and youth groups to ensure that policies support the LGBTQ+ community.”
A <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/books-to-teach-empathy-kindness#:~:text=A%20Chair%20for%20My%20Mother,chair%20for%20all%20to%20enjoy." target="_blank" rel="noopener">page</a> with book recommendations for children was also restricted. One of the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241112183430/https:/www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/books-to-teach-empathy-kindness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">books</a>, aimed at children ages 4-7, was “George,” by Alex Gino, which describes a gender-confused boy.
“When people look at George, they see a boy. But George knows she’s a girl. George thinks she’ll have to keep this a secret forever until her teacher announces the title of the class play. This book is the candid and heartwarming story of a transgender girl and the support of her friends,” the description posted by the YMCA reads. 
Also <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/y-community/showing-up-as-my-whole-self" target="_blank" rel="noopener">restricted</a> were similar pages on the YMCA’s promotion of Pride including a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250120095842/https:/www.ymca.org/ystories/diversity-equity-inclusion/showing-up-as-my-whole-self" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blog post</a> by self-described “queer transgender woman” talking about how the YMCA of Greater Boston marched together in a Pride Parade. Another similar <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250218123149/https://www.ymca.org/ystories/y-community/thank-you-my-allies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> discussed the YMCA of the USA’s National LGBTQ+ Steering Committee. 
Other DEI-themed pages and the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240801054953/https:/www.ymca.org/who-we-are/our-leadership/executives/lynda-gonzales-chavez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">biographies</a> of employees working with DEI roles are restricted. For example, the bio page for Lynda Gonzales-Chavez, who was the YMCA’s Senior VP/Chief Global Diversity, Equity And Inclusion Officer, is no longer visible. Her role is now described as Chief Global Relations and Community Engagement Officer at YMCA.
Marré was not impressed with the removal of the LGBT-themed content. 
“Parents deserve complete transparency and accountability when it comes to their children. Make no mistake, until the YMCA announces new policies to safeguard children, they are only concealing the evidence,” she told The Daily Wire. “As parents, we cannot stop applying pressure to these institutions. This is just the first step in protecting our children from spaces that defy biological truth.”

YMCA Scrubs Transgender Guidance After Parent Group Raises Alarm

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Wednesday that the State Department would start to “aggressively” revoke the visas of Chinese students. 
Rubio said that the revocations would focus on those with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in “critical fields.” Rubio’s actions come after he froze all new student visa interviews pending the development of new admittance guidelines. 
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. State Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security to aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields,” Rubio announced in a statement. “We will also revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.”
There are roughly 275,000 Chinese students studying in the United States. 
Chinese theft of American intellectual property has been a problem for years, and several Chinese students have been charged and convicted of espionage. 
In 2020, a Chinese woman studying at Boston University named Yanqing Ye <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/fbi-wanted-yanqing-ye-china/">fled</a> the country after being accused of working for China while studying chemistry, physics, and biomedical engineering. According to the FBI, Ye was a lieutenant in the Chinese military but did not disclose that when she applied for a student visa. She reportedly gathered intelligence on two American scientists. 
In another <a href="https://abc7chicago.com/post/convicted-ex-chicago-illinois-institute-technology-college-student-chaoqun-ji-part-us-china-spy-swap/15596442/">incident</a>, a Chinese student named Chaoqun Ji, who was attending the Illinois Institute of Technology, was convicted in 2023 of acting as an unregistered agent for China after gathering information on defense contractors.

The targeting of Chinese student visas comes as the Trump administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-freezes-all-new-student-visa-interviews-in-major-blow-to-elite-universities?author=Nathan+Gay&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Admin+Freezes+All+New+Student+Visa+Interviews+In+Major+Blow+To+Elite+Universities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has increased vetting</a> for what foreign students are allowed into the country. On Tuesday, Rubio signed a cable directing U.S. embassies to “not add any additional student or exchange visitor (F, M, and J) visa appointment capacity until further guidance is issued … which we anticipate in the coming days.”
The pause affects all applicants for student visas while the administration reportedly prepares guidance for expanded social media vetting requirements.
Rubio also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rubio-announces-new-visa-restrictions-for-foreigners-who-censor-americans?author=Hank+Berrien&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Rubio+Announces+New+Visa+Restrictions+For+Foreigners+Who+Censor+Americans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">took steps</a> on Wednesday to implement new visa restrictions targeting foreigners “complicit” in censoring Americans.
“Today, I am announcing a new visa restriction policy that will apply to foreign nationals who are responsible for censorship of protected expression in the United States,” Rubio said. “It is unacceptable for foreign officials to issue or threaten arrest warrants on U.S. citizens or U.S. residents for social media posts on American platforms while physically present on U.S. soil.”

Rubio Promises To ‘Aggressively’ Target Students Tied To Chinese Communist Party

School districts across the country have spent millions of federal dollars meant for low-income students pushing leftist concepts in the classroom, an education watchdog found.
Defending Education released a <a href="https://defendinged.org/investigations/hijacked/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on Wednesday detailing how 55 school districts have used federal funding to push DEI, restorative justice, and Social Emotional Learning. The funds, many of which have been allocated through Title I and Title II of the Every Student Succeeds Act, are meant to help schools with high percentages of students from low-income families.
Despite the intention of the funds, they often have gone toward things like racially-focused programs, training teachers to grade with equity, racial equity consulting, and other DEI initiatives. The report, which was first shared with The Daily Wire, found that $19,022,259 in federal funding, primarily through Title I, II, and IV, was spent by districts on DEI, restorative justice, and Social Emotional Learning.
&#8220;Instead of prioritizing reading, writing and arithmetic, school districts across the country have spent nearly $20 million in federal funds on organizations and consultants promoting progressive ideology in K-12 education,&#8221; Defending Education Investigative Reporter Kendall Tietz told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;Programs centered on social emotional learning, as well as race- and sex-based content, often seek to influence students’ thoughts and beliefs by framing their understanding of the world through the lens of identity politics. Time and again, district spending illustrates how lucrative far-Left programming is for education activists,&#8221; she added.
The Hayward Unified School District in California in 2022 <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030212&amp;MID=12241&amp;enIID=QwwltgiXsyTABQiud78D9A%3D%3D&amp;srch=Crescendo+Education+Group&amp;ktype=Exact&amp;Tab=Agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allocated</a> $110,000 in Title funds for the Crescendo Education Group to train teachers in &#8220;equitable grading.&#8221; This means that teachers were <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/meetings/TempFolder/Meetings/Crescendo%20Contract_263810gssymh5t4goa0bbsvvyshlxo.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taught</a> &#8220;grading and assessment practices that are more accurate,&#8221; &#8220;bias-resistant,&#8221; and &#8220;motivational.&#8221;
Similarly, Jefferson Union High School District in California <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030270&amp;MID=30931&amp;enIID=XF0tHbtuREKlVhP4rewS5w%3D%3D&amp;srch=Crescendo+Education+Group&amp;ktype=Exact&amp;Tab=Agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> nearly $300,000 in Title 1 funding for Crescendo Education to provide training on equitable grading from 2022 to 2024.
Hayward also <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030212&amp;MID=14139&amp;enIID=oZpdaoyzbSn2syrxwUSYsw%3D%3D&amp;srch=woke+kindergarten&amp;ktype=Exact&amp;Tab=Agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">used</a> $200,000 in Comprehensive Support and Improvement funds for a contract with the organization &#8220;Woke Kindergarten&#8221; to push teachers to <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/meetings/TempFolder/Meetings/Woke%20Kindergarten_Contract%20Amendment_315462gssymh5t4goa0bbsvvyshlxo.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adop</a>t a &#8220;healing-centered &amp; liberatory learning practices made possible by developing their understanding of teaching through an abolitionist lens.&#8221;

In nearby San Rafael City Schools, the school board used Title IV dollars in both 2023 and 2024 to <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030430&amp;MID=24502&amp;enIID=qCU3Hpr7yvVXtplus6VZUZBNQ%3D%3D&amp;srch=black+girls&amp;ktype=Exact&amp;Tab=Agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">create</a> a &#8220;Black Girls Group,&#8221; described as a place for &#8220;young Black girls to discuss, understand, and combat racism while fostering a sense of belonging.&#8221;
Another California school that has used federal funds to push racialized programs is West Contra Costa Unified School District, which <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030499&amp;MID=15557&amp;enIID=2pn8i9ccAkk8QnQESUCYeg%3D%3D&amp;srch=Wayfinder&amp;ktype=Exact&amp;Tab=Agenda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> over $330,000 in Title I funds in 2022 and 2024 for Improve Your Tomorrow&#8217;s College Academy program, whose <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/meetings/TempFolder/Meetings/Contract%20Summary.092122_344094gssymh5t4goa0bbsvvyshlxo.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mission</a> is to &#8220;increase the number of young men of color&#8221; going to college.
In Illinois, the Township High School District 211 <a href="https://go.boarddocs.com/il/thsd211/Board.nsf/files/D3CHEU48303C/$file/Approval%20of%20Minutes%20--%20February%2022%2C%202024%20(03-21-24).pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> $55,000 in Title II grants for professional development trainings with Courageous Conversations, an organization that <a href="https://courageousconversation.com/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> it wants to pursue &#8220;racial equity&#8221; by uncovering &#8220;personal and institutional biases.&#8221;
Indianapolis Public Schools has <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/indianapolis-public-schools-paid-racial-equity-consultant-1-3-million-over-10-years-including-over-680000-in-title-i-funds-adopts-equity-policy-that-calls-color-blindness-a-present-day-r/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> hundreds of thousands of Title I funding on contracts with the Racial Equity Institute, another group of consultants steeped in racial ideology. Other districts, like Lorain City Schools in Ohio, have <a href="https://filecabinet10.eschoolview.com/A37642F5-4C14-4F55-8D03-5BCCF1F87568/d37bd1be-ad61-4303-83f5-2893f8ff1a43.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> over $13,000 in Title IV on services from the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland for &#8220;services.&#8221; It is unclear what those services were.
Defending Education&#8217;s report also highlights how school districts have used federal funds to implement Social Emotional Learning concepts, pointing to contracts with organizations like Panorama Education, the Committee for Children, and Project Wayfinder.
Advocates of social emotional learning <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-social-emotional-learning-is-nothing-more-than-unlicensed-therapy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">say</a> that the thinking behind it is that schools teach students how to regulate their emotions, develop healthy identities, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
According to Defending Education, 17 school districts have used federal funding to pay Panorama Education $2,427,721 using federal grants for their survey platform or related services. Panorama Education, which has <a href="https://www.panoramaed.com/blog/introducing-panorama-for-social-emotional-learning" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backed</a> Social Emotional Learning techniques, says that it allows local districts to tailor use of its platforms to their own needs and that it only provides the technology and doesn&#8217;t push any ideology.
The Committee for Children told The Daily Wire that its SEL programs &#8220;are evidence-based and focused on helping young people develop skills to support safety, well-being, and academic success. They are not political or ideological in nature. They are welcomed and actively used across thousands of communities in all 50 states, just as they have been for more than 40 years.&#8221;
The Education Department has indicated that it may be scrutinizing schools&#8217; implementation of Social Emotional Learning concepts to ensure that it is not being used as a workaround for restrictions on DEI. In an <a href="https://www.ed.gov/media/document/frequently-asked-questions-about-racial-preferences-and-stereotypes-under-title-vi-of-civil-rights-act-109530.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FAQ sheet</a>, the Education Department said that some schools have looked to use SEL to push DEI through other means.
&#8220;Other schools have sought to veil racially discriminatory policies with terms like &#8216;social-emotional learning&#8217; or &#8216;culturally responsive&#8217; teaching. But whether an initiative constitutes unlawful discrimination does not turn solely on whether it is labeled &#8216;DEI&#8217; or uses terminology such as &#8216;diversity,&#8217; &#8216;equity,&#8217; or &#8216;inclusion,'&#8221; the departments wrote in February.
The Trump administration has directed all federal funding to be cut from schools receiving federal money if they push racial and gender ideologies on students. Already, the Education Department has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-deals-blow-to-taxpayer-funded-leftist-activist-training-program?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Admin+Deals+Blow+To+Taxpayer-Funded+Leftist+Activist+Training+Program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taken action</a> to cut off funding for entities pushing radical ideology, including $1 billion in &#8220;mental-health grants,&#8221; many of which were going toward training leftist activists.

How Schools Use Taxpayer Money For Poor Students To Push Leftist Ideology

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Canada was &#8220;considering&#8221; becoming the 51st state in exchange for free participation in his Golden Dome missile defense program.
Trump, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-reveals-new-details-about-golden-dome-missile-defense-system-to-protect-u-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> last week that his administration had developed a draft architecture for the Golden Dome project, said Canada would have to pay around $61 billion to join the program but not become a state. While Trump has frequently suggested that Canada could become a state, Canadian leaders have consistently rejected the idea.
&#8220;I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State,&#8221; Trump posted on Truth Social. &#8220;They are considering the offer!&#8221;
The Golden Dome, which is projected to cost around $175 billion, is supposed to protect America from hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles. Last week, Trump said he expects the program to be &#8220;fully operational&#8221; by the end of his term.
“Once fully constructed, the Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles even if they are launched from other sides of the world, and even if they are launched from space, and we will have the best system ever built,” Trump said. “We will truly be completing the job that President Reagan started 40 years ago forever ending the missile threat to the American homeland.”

Last week, he said that Canada was in talks to join the program, but would have to pay their &#8220;fair share &#8221; if they wanted in. Prime Minister Mark Carney <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy4ee9jmk17o" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> that he was in talks with the Trump administration about the Golden Dome.
&#8220;Canadians gave the prime minister a strong mandate to negotiate a comprehensive new security and economic relationship with the United States,&#8221; Carney spokeswoman Audrey Champoux said. &#8220;These discussions naturally include strengthening NORAD [North American Aerospace Defense Command] and related initiatives such as the Golden Dome.&#8221;
Carney has consistently said that Canada would never become part of the United States, telling Trump during a visit to the Oval Office earlier this year that his country would not be open to the suggestion.
&#8220;As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale,&#8221; Carney <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-mark-carney-canada-meeting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;We&#8217;re sitting in one right now, Buckingham Palace that you visited, as well. And having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign the last several months, it&#8217;s not for sale, it won&#8217;t be for sale, ever. But the opportunity is in the partnership and what we can build together.&#8221;
The first $25 billion for the Golden Dome is included in the House budget bill, which passed last week.
