It’s not often that when you search for a sane voice on American politics that you turn to … Lindsay Lohan.
But the former child star who’s been mired in controversy and scandal for years, tossed out some sage advice on Independence Day.
When President Trump came out in support of little Charlie Gard on Twitter — the baby sentenced to die by a British court — the 31-year-old responded by saying, “THIS IS our president. Stop #bullying him & start trusting him. Thank you personally for supporting #THEUSA.”
Lohan also replied to a tweet showing Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hugging, saying:
All this coming from the star of Mean Girls.
Lohan has been tempering herself for a while, taking up Islam and settling down with a long-term boyfriend. But as they are wont to do, the twits on Twitter were not about to let someone preach tolerance for this president.
But there were supporters, too.
Lohan has 9.4 million followers on Twitter. Let’s hope a few in Hollywood are paying attention.
