According to reporter Michelle Fields, Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, just told another fib about the incident in which he grabbed her and forcefully pulled her away from Trump.
In an interview Friday on CNN’s New Day in which he discussed a Florida state attorney’s decision not to prosecute him for misdemeanor battery against the former Breitbart reporter, Lewandowski claimed that he had tried to contact Fields but “never heard back” and, once again, accused her of trying to “inject herself” into the story.
“To this day, I have never heard back from Michelle,” he said. “She wanted to inject herself into making it a story. Now I’m glad the story is over.”
Fields took to Twitter to correct the story, writing, “No. I never heard from Corey.”
Until the Jupiter Police Department released surveillance footage a few weeks ago clearly showing him grabbing Fields and pulling her backward, Lewandowski denied having even “touched” her. Lewandowski tried to excuse the repeated falsehood Friday by saying the event was “barely memorable” to him.
Despite Florida state attorney David Aronberg’s confirmation Thursday that there was indeed evidence to warrant charges against him, Lewandowski and the Trump campaign have continued to smear Fields as an “attention-seeker.”
Fields told The Blaze Wednesday night that she might bring a civil suit against Lewandowski and Trump for defamation of character, but she also previously tweeted that the “office of prosecutor asked 2 weeks ago if I’d be ok with an apology from Corey. I said ya but haven’t heard back about it.”
In the press conference Thursday, Aronberg said that prosecutors had talked to Trump personally and that he planned to draft an apology to Fields.
