As The Daily Wire reported, Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy created the “Barstool Fund” designed to help small businesses, a cause he has been championing since the pandemic began.
“I’ve been ranting and raving lately about the plight of small business in the United States. New York City just shut down indoor dining. It’s like, how do you expect these people to survive? How are restaurants going to survive?” Portnoy said. “They’re already on their last legs and you’re pulling the plug on them, and nobody seems to care in the government.”
While Portnoy acknowledged his plan was not the best, he felt it was at least something.
“We’ve come up with a plan. Is it the best plan? No. The best plan is the government getting off their a** and issuing relief, billions of dollars to these small business owners who are losing their livelihoods,” Portnoy said. “That’s the solution. That’s the only solution really — but barring that, we’re going to do whatever we can.”
“The Barstool Fund, it is modeled around [my cameraman] Frankie Borrelli,” he continued. “Well, his dad owns Borrelli’s in Long Island, the perfect example of the type of business we are trying to save. Throughout this pandemic, I’ve been, like, ‘Hey, Frankie, how’s your dad doing? How’s Borrelli’s doing?’ Every month it gets a little bleaker.”

This past November, Kid Rock, who has long championed Republican causes, endorsed candidate John James for the Michigan U.S. Senate seat that he lost to incumbent Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI).
“Hey, Michigan, it’s Kid Rock, and you have a chance to put a real-life American bada** in the U.S. Senate instead of a career politician, and that bada** is John James,” the musician said in a campaign ad. “John is a Westpoint graduate, combat veteran in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and a job creator. John James was successful before he got into politics rather than use politics to be successful. He wants to help others create jobs and put Michigan to work. He understands Michigan.”
“[We’ve worked] to make our family stronger, get our communities more involved, and help our neighbors first,” the rocker continued. “John is the leader we need in the U.S. Senate. It’s the war fighter versus the gaslighter. The combat veteran versus the career politician.”
