Kellyanne Conway, the first woman to ever run a successful presidential campaign and acting counselor to the president, has faced her share of harassment living in Washington, D.C. (where Trump won 4% of the vote) and working for President Donald Trump, reveals a report from The Washington Post. Conway, of course, is not alone. Numerous Trump staffers have been harassed, bullied, and kicked out of establishments for their association with President Trump. Moreover, Democrats like Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) have actually explicitly called for such harassment. Even the president’s daughter Ivanka has reportedly had protesters posting outside her and husband Jared Kushner’s home. In addition to family ties, both Ivanka and Jared work for the White House.
Conway recalled some of the not-so-friendly encounters she’s had since working for Trump, and revealed her snarky, quick responses, too.
One time at a supermarket, for example, “a man rushing by with his shopping cart sneered, ‘You ought to be ashamed of yourself! Go look in the mirror!'” explains the Post. Conway retorted, “Mirrors are in aisle 9 — I’ll go get one now.”
“What am I gonna do? Fall apart in the canned vegetable aisle?” she told the Post.
In another example, Conway was heckled at a Baltimore Orioles game. A man took a photo of the White House advisor and mumbled that she was famous “for all the wrong reasons.”
Conway says she approached the heckler and said, “I’m fluent in ignoramus. What did you say?”
“Then she took her own photo of him and announced that she was adding it to her ‘collection of underachieving men,'” notes the Post.
Ivanka and Jared have had protesters outside their Kalorama home on at least two occasions. “Both like to attend early-morning spin classes at Flywheel, a nearby studio, where the room goes dark when the class starts — the better to pedal unobserved,” says the report. “At the conclusion of a recent session, Kushner, a baseball cap pulled down over his face, headed quickly outside to a chauffeur-driven SUV that whisked him away.”
The harassment of Trump officials, and even Trump supporters, has no end in sight. To name just some of the other altercations, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was kicked out of a restaurant for her association with Trump; White House advisor Stephen Miller’s home was targeted by leftists decrying him as a “white nationalist”; Senate Majority Leader Mich McConnell and his wife, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, were harassed in D.C. by a group of young male liberals; a Trump supporter was refused service at a popular seafood restaurant in Canada; and just last week, a 16-year-old boy was assaulted, robbed, and had a drink thrown on him for merely wearing a Trump “MAGA” hat.
