During a Monday-broadcast interview on Fox News, Juanita Broaddrick spoke with host Martha MacCallum about not being included in TIME’s #MeToo “Person of the Year” issue.
According to Broaddrick, TIME called her on November 24, and asked if she “would be interested in participating” in the #MeToo story that the magazine was putting together. Broaddrick initially declined because she “didn’t feel a part of that movement.”
“I was ‘me too’ decades before it was okay to be ‘me too,’” she told MacCallum.
However, according to Broaddrick, TIME called several days later, and asked if she would like to offer a comment for the story. She said she would:
I was very happy to do that. I supported these women; I thought they were brave women and I told her: “Yes, I would be happy to submit a comment.” And then a few days went by, and I was so happy when they were declared “Person of the Year,” and when I went to look for my comments, they weren’t there. That disappointed me.
In 1999, Juanita Broaddrick accused former President Bill Clinton of rape during an interview for “Dateline NBC.” She claims the rape took place in 1978 in a Little Rock, Arkansas, hotel room while Clinton was the attorney general of the state.
