Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) has a reputation for telling it like it is, and the Oxford scholar delivered a classic line on Tuesday about the nation’s record-high gas prices.
Kennedy joined Fox News’ Jesse Watters to discuss soaring inflation and the Biden administration’s dismal response to the economic woes that plague the country.
“I don’t know about where you live, Jesse, but in my state, the price of gas is so high that it would be cheaper to buy cocaine and just run everywhere,” Kennedy remarked at one point, as flagged by Townhall.com’s Spencer Brown:

On Saturday, The Daily Wire reported that the average cost of a gallon of gasoline has more than doubled since President Joe Biden took office on January 21, 2021. On Wednesday, The Daily Wire noted that a gallon of gas now costs drivers more than $5.00 in 16 states and Washington, D.C. Likewise, The Daily Wire also reported that inflation is crushing shoppers when it comes to things like groceries and other household products.
The state of the economy has left many Americans feeling gloomy, and — as described by Kennedy — a look into the inner workings of Biden’s team in D.C. should not inspire much confidence that the negativity is going to end anytime soon.
“In Washington, D.C., when I feel inadequate, I just look around. On really bad days I see liars and frauds and meatheads in every direction,” he told the host of “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
“This is what President Biden’s and Vice President Harris’ Washington, D.C. has given the American people,” he added.
“Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who was also captain of ‘Team Transitory Inflation,’ announced that she’s really sorry but inflation’s not going to be transitory, it’s going to be with us for a long while,” he continued. “In other words, she does not have a solution to inflation but she really admires the problem — in other words, get used to it.”
“Meanwhile her boss, President Biden, continues to campaign for more economic chaos by trying to convince us in Congress to raise taxes by $3.5 trillion, by expanding an already generous welfare state, and by turning cops into social workers,” Kennedy lamented.
Fans of the Louisiana senator will know that his latest comments are par for the course.
In January, The Daily Wire reported that Kennedy, known for his sense of humor, mocked President Joe Biden.
“The Biden administration has mismanaged COVID, it has mismanaged inflation, it has mismanaged the border, and it has mismanaged foreign policy, all in one year,” Kennedy said. “If the aliens landed tomorrow, and said, ‘take me to your leader,’ it would be embarrassing. Now President Biden is trying to change the subject by talking about race. And he is mismanaging that.”

In 2020, Kennedy also wondered whether or not Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was “one of those people that tried Tide Pods.”
