According to leftists it is now sexist to suggest that mothers cook for their children. Stouffer’s posted a Mother’s Day ad depicting one of their products with the caption “Give mom the night off from cooking- she deserves it.” Seems like a nice, non-controversial advertisement, right?
WRONG.
Leftists attacked this post, stating that it is “sexist” to assume that mothers are the only ones who cook. However, nowhere in the advertisement did it state that fathers or other members of a family cannot cook as well. The company was simply attempting to utilize Mother’s Day as a way to promote sales. Statistically more woman cook for their families than men do. This does not mean that every woman falls into this category. Obviously, every home is different and fathers are just as capable of cooking as woman are. But does that mean that we cannot publicly thank our mothers for cooking for us?
It seems that people on the Left cannot help themselves from crying sexism or racism from the most innocent situation. Every time a commercial features a woman playing with her child, leftists must criticize by saying “men can also care for children!”
Obviously that is true and no one is denying that, yet for some reason liberals must insert their agenda in any way possible. It appears that every commercial for diapers must contain a giant disclaimer stating: “Men are also capable of child-rearing, please do not call us sexist.”
An advertisement posted on the weekend of Mother’s Day which implies that mothers cook for their children is not sexist in any way, shape or form. To suggest that there is any problem with the Stouffer’s advertisement is utterly absurd and has no basis. To the contrary, it is actually a nice sentiment suggesting that kids give their mothers a break for this one day because they truly deserve it. All mothers warrant recognition and appreciation for all that they do. It is time for leftists to stop creating a dispute where it does not exist and to cease interfering with people thanking their mothers.
