Update: The book “Superheroes Are Everywhere” by Kamala Harris wasn’t distributed to migrant children in welcome packs, according to local officials. A copy of the book was donated by a community member.

Original story below:

Referencing a report from the New York Post that a 2019 children’s book by Kamala Harris titled, “Superheroes Are Everywhere” was being handed out to migrants in border facilities, Fox News’ White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the thought process behind such a decision, and whether Harris is profiting as a result.

“Every migrant child being brought to a shelter is being given a copy of her children’s book, ‘Superheroes Are Everywhere.’ Do you know why that is and if she is making money off of that?” asked Doocy.

“Of the President, of the Vice President?” Psaki responded.

“The Vice President’s book, yeah.” Doocy clarified.

“I’d have to check with our, uh, Health and Human Services team, are you talking about if they go to shelters, or if they go to…?” Psaki answered.

“In the welcome kit, apparently, there’s a copy of her 2019 children’s book, ‘Superheroes Are Everywhere?’” Doocy clarified again.

“I’d have to certainly check on that, I hear it’s a good book.” answered Psaki.

The Daily Wire reported on Saturday that, “A book that [Harris] wrote in 2019 is allegedly being given to migrant children as part of welcome packs that they are receiving at one facility.”

“Harris’ children’s book Superheroes Are Everywhere is included in welcome packs for migrant children arriving at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, a recently converted influx facility, along with basic hygiene supplies and clothing, photographs show,” Fox News reported. “A White House official told Fox News Harris wasn’t aware of the welcome packs, and that these kinds of efforts are usually organized by members of the community.”

“The report noted that the Department of Health and Human Services did not respond to requests for comments about who was paying for the books. A White House official claimed to the Washington Examiner that the book was part of a citywide donation effort to collect books and toys for the children and that Harris did not know about it. The Daily Mail reported that the facility at which the book was found can hold up to 1,000 children at a time,” added The Daily Wire.

Doocy’s line of questioning comes as pressure builds on Harris who, despite being tasked with leading the efforts to address the ongoing migrant crisis, has not visited the southern border in over 30 days.

It has been 30 days since President Joe Biden announced he would be tasking Harris with leading the diplomatic efforts to stem the migration. At a White House immigration meeting on March 24, Biden said Harris would lead the administration’s efforts with Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to both curb the current flow of migrants and implement long-term strategies that would address the root causes of migration,” Newsweek reported on Friday.

When asked in late March whether she had plans to visit the border, Harris laughed and said “not today.”
