Last night, Donald Trump honored the sacrifice of Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens during his Joint Session to Congress. Owens’ widow Carryn was in the audience seated next to his daughter Ivanka. After telling Carryn that Ryan’s legacy was “etched into eternity,” the audience erupted with applause that lasted two minutes.
Many commentators praised Trump’s words to Carryn Owens, including leftist CNN Commentator Van Jones. Jones, who has been a vocal critic of the President, acknowledged that Trump’s interaction with Carryn represents “one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics, period.” He also expressed that Trump became President of the United States and a unifier at that moment.
