Democrats ridiculed Donald Trump’s conspiracy theories, and they were right to do so. Will they ridicule a conspiracy theory from one of their own?
Sidney Blumenthal, one of Hillary Clinton’s closest confidants for the last two decades, has declared that the FBI led a coup against the Democratic presidential nominee:
“It was the result of a cabal of right wing agents of the FBI in the New York office, attached to Rudy Giuliani, who was a member of Trump’s campaign, and I think it’s not unfair to call it a coup…a coup d’etat.”

There’s absolutely no evidence to suggest that a “cabal of right wing” FBI agents led by Rudy Giuliani were secretly planning to take down Hillary Clinton, yet here we have someone openly speculating about such nonsense.
Blumenthal would do well to look to William of Ockham, a Franciscan friar who made famous the principle of Occam’s Razor: The more simple answer is likely the correct one. Perhaps voters saw Clinton for what she truly is: A woman who lied repeatedly to the American people about her private, unsecured, national security-jeopardizing email server, and whose foreign policy blunders as Secretary of State were numerous and deadly.
