Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx.) gave a strongly-worded statement condemning Ammon Bundy and his armed militiamen in Oregon.
In response to reporters in Iowa who asked him about the situation, Cruz said, “Our prayers are with everyone involved with what’s happening with Oregon and especially those in law enforcement that are risking their lives.”
“Every one of us has a constitutional right to protest, to speak our minds,” the conservative firebrand continued. “But we don’t have a constitutional right to use force and violence and to threaten force and violence against others. So it is our hope that the protesters there will stand down peaceably, that there will not be a violent confrontation.”
Bundy and his armed militiamen would be wise to heed Cruz’s words.
