Here’s What Marco Rubio Says He’ll Do First Day Of Office (Hint: Israel Will Like It A Lot)
On Fox News Sunday, Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio said if he is elected the first day he took office he’d not only repeal “every single one of Barack Obama’s unconstitutional amendments,” he’d also nullify the president’s deal with the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, Iran.
“The deal with Iran. I’ll cancel it on my first day in office,” the Florida senator told host Greta Van Susteren Sunday.
“I’m going to repeal every single one of Barack Obama’s unconstitutional amendments,” he told the “On the Record” host when she asked what he’d do in his first few hours in office. “That means the end to all these EPA rulings, the end to DAPA, the end to DACA as well, eventually. That needs to wind down,” he said.
The last two executive actions—the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals—are key parts of a contentious debate over immigration Rubio has been embroild in and on which he has appeared to waver.
“Also, the end to this federal funding of abortions overseas. That has to come to an end immediately as well, so we look forward to getting rid of all those things,” added Rubio in reference to a rule that Obama struck down in 2009 that prohibited sending federal funds to abortion providers overseas.
After asking Rubio how he would handle the war on terror, particularly the spreading influence of the Islamic State, Van Susteren brought up criticism on his immigration record leveled at him by Ted Cruz. Rubio blasted Cruz as hypocritical and defended his own stance, insisting that he would prioritize securing the southern border before taking any action on immigration reform.
