Haitian Americans March Across Bridge To Mar-A-Lago In Protest Of Trump’s Alleged ‘S***hole’ Remarks

Shortly after the president entered the Trump International Golf Club on Monday morning (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), a group of Haitian Americans gathered at Southern Boulevard bridge in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The gathering, which began at approximately 10 a.m. EST, was a protest against alleged remarks made by the president about Haitian immigrants during a meeting on Thursday.

The location of the protest was chosen in part because it runs along the most direct route from the Trump International Golf Club to Mar-a-Lago. Additionally, the spot “is directly across from the corner where President Trump’s most loyal fans station themselves to cheer the president’s motorcade,” reports Palm Beach Post.

As the group ballooned to as many as several hundred, they marched across the Southern Boulevard bridge toward Mar-a-Lago. While some protesters demanded an apology and waved flags, others prayed, according to WPBF.

One of the individuals who organized the protest, local attorney Byrnes Guillaume, told The Daily Wire that there were three components to the march: “Number one, we demanded an apology from the president. Number two, we wanted his immigration policies to be unbiased. Number three, we wanted like-minded people to register and vote.”

Guillaume said that after marching across the bridge toward Mar-a-Lago, the group marched back, at which point they engaged verbally with counter-protesters.

Karin Fahrenholz, who happened to be at the scene for an unrelated matter, was quoted by WPBF:

Certainly if the comment was made, I can understand how it could be interpreted that way. I can also see the point of view that may have been misinterpreted. He may have simply been acknowledging that they are living in terrible conditions not said that they are terrible people.

The protest appears to have ended without incident, and President Trump is scheduled to leave Palm Beach on Monday afternoon.
