‘GunMeggedon’: California Strips Away More 2nd Amendment Rights

   DailyWire.com

Using the San Bernardino Islamic terror attacks as part of their rationale, California lawmakers moved Tuesday to quietly strip away more gun rights from California residents in a package of 10 gun control bills aptly nicknamed “GunMeggedon.”

Gun control advocates are specifically citing the San Bernardino massacre as an argument for some of the measures, particularly ones banning high-capacity magazines and closing the so-called “bullet button loophole,” which they claim allows people to get around the state’s assault rifle ban.

Such laws are needed “[w]hen two radicalized assailants used those bullet button weapons to shoot 36 people in a San Bernardino community building in a span of less than four minutes,” said Ari Freilich of the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

But critics argue that none of the additional gun control measures in the already heavily regulated state appear likely to actually reduce criminal activity.

“Not one of the laws that are being pushed today makes Californians safer,” said Firearms Policy Coalition’s Craig DeLuz. “All they do is put restrictions — in many cases very unreasonable restrictions — on law-abiding citizens.”

FPC — which has created a petition to move the GunMegeddon bills to the Suspense File — provides the following summary of the eight bills that are already moving to the appropriations committees:

-AB 2510 eliminates uniformity for CCW permits, putting permit holders and law enforcement at greater risk.

-AB 2607 allows your boss, coworker, or professor to strip away your gun rights through the use of gun violence restraining orders.

-SB 880 immediately bans and forces the registration of millions of semi-automatic weapons in common use.

-SB 894 mandates lost and stolen reporting within five days and penalizes individuals for reports that are turned in even a day late.

-SB 1006 allows the University of California to conduct biased gun violence research.

-SB 1235 is a measure that we believe will eventually include mandatory ammo tracking and purchase permits.

-SB 1407 is De Leon’s version of the “Ghost Gun” ban.

-SB 1446 bans all “standard” capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

Using terrorism as an excuse to restrict gun rights is a popular tactic these days, with Hillary Clinton recently getting in on the action.

Some positive news on the gun rights front: The left’s increasingly overt gun grab efforts during Obama’s presidency have resulted in significant growth in the gun industry. At least one industry is doing well under Obamanomics.
