With the Senate moving closer to a decision on whether to call additional impeachment witnesses — among them former national security adviser John Bolton, who Democrats are demanding testify — President Trump tweeted out a video of an interview with Bolton from August 2019 in which he praises the president’s July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and cites the administration’s concerns about “corruption” in Ukraine.

“I will be meeting President Zelensky. He and President Trump have already spoken twice,” Bolton told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty shortly after the July 25 call that sparked the impeachment inquiry. “President called to congratulate President Zelensky on his election and then on his success in the parliamentary election. They were very warm and cordial calls. We’re hoping that they will be able to meet in Warsaw and have a few minutes together.”
