The time has come for feminists to play the most trusty card in their deck to secure their desired candidate the Democratic Party nomination: the woman card.

Ever since CNN published the report that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) allegedly told Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in private that a woman could not beat Trump in the 2020 election, feminists have been sounding the rallying cry for lady voters to back Warren strictly because she has XX chromosomes.

Writing over at TIME, Britney Cooper argued “it matters that Elizabeth Warren is a woman” while urging her leftist allies to let that reality animate their voting decisions.

“Are we really prepared to say that gender is now merely incidental to leadership?” asked Cooper. “That’s a post-patriarchal dream, but nowhere near being a reality, and it is as specious as any claims to a post-racial America. Given that we are in serious danger of having Roe v. Wade overturned, a decision that affects reproductive freedoms across gender categories, arguing that gender is merely incidental to the election and to Warren’s candidacy is faulty.”

“But as we watch – and I with growing dread – the winnowing down of the Democratic field potentially to three white men, Sanders, Biden and Buttigieg, we are faced again with the problem of gender,” she continued. “I have, thus far, been disappointed watching progressive white feminists and feminists of color alike continue to argue for a socialist revolution on the grounds that gender would be covered. They make this same case about race, and that, too, is dubious.”

Cooper concluded her piece by characterizing the woman card as a position that speaks for itself and needs no defending, citing the “44 men and zero women” who have been elected to the presidency.

Cooper, of course, was not alone in her play of the “woman card.” Writing over at U.K.’s Independent, Lauren Duca praised the New York Times’ double-endorsement of Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) for “rejecting toxic masculinity.”

“I think it makes a difference if the person at the helm of this transformation is a woman,” argued Duca, “because of the lessons learned by anyone who has a female perspective on our crisis of toxic masculinity. The same could be more extensively discussed in terms of race in this election, if the Democratic party weren’t embarrassing themselves with not even a single black or brown candidate on the most recent debate stage.”

“It’s ridiculous to assert that gender and race don’t matter in a society that is defined by its systematic oppression of those characteristics,” she continued.

Since the 2015 primaries, the feminists have been employing whatever argument in the book to fear-monger voters into voting for their preferred candidate. This reached the heights of total farce when former Secretary of State Madeline Albright said there was a “special place in hell” for women who do not support each other.

“Young women have to support Hillary Clinton. The story is not over!” said Albright. “They’re going to want to push us back. Appointments to the supreme court make all the difference. It’s not done and you have to help. Hillary Clinton will always be there for you. And just remember, there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other.”

Elizabeth Warren herself made her play for the gender card this week when she promised to make her cabinet at least 50% female.
