The father of Islamic terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook has been placed on the United States’ terror watch list, pending further investigation. Farook’s father, named Syed as well, migrated from Pakistan in 1972, later becoming a US citizen in 1999.
According to ABC News, “The FBI has identified him [the younger Farook] as a known terrorist. He’s dead. But he is now known as a terrorist. His father is an immediate family member who spent extended periods of time in Pakistan. He’s watch listed.”
The federal government commonly places the immediate family of terrorists under watch as a preemptive security measure.
Farook’s family is still a bit of a mystery, however. Syed Rizwan Farook’s brother, Syed Raheel Farook, is, in fact, a decorated US Navy veteran, awarded for fighting terrorists. Farook’s father has aggressively condemned his son’s actions and ideologies, claiming that his son was “conservative,” while he is “liberal,” in terms of religious piety.
In an interview with an Italian newspaper, the father stated that his son, Syed Rizwan “shared the ideology of Al Baghdadi to create an Islamic state, and it was fixed with Israel.” Farook’s father said of his son’s wife, Tashfeen Malik, “I only know that (s)he was born in Pakistan and lived in Saudi Arabia, but I never spoke. He did not want to see her in-laws. I told my son that it destroyed our family, but he did not care.”
As expected, rabidly anti-Israel, pro-Islamist, and terrorist-affiliated lobbying group Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) went out of their Hamas-adoring way to gaslight the elder Syed Farook. (Gaslighting is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity. Instances may range simply from a denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred to the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim.)
CAIR didn’t take kindly to the elder Farook’s implicit critiques of radical Islam. Instead of challenging his ideas and first-hand information, the Islamic group dismissed his sanity, claiming he was “not stable” and “not handling [his son’s death] well.”

Although the FBI has been flirting with the theory that Tashfeen Malik, Farook’s co-terrorist wife, was indeed the one that fully radicalized her husband, the verdict is still out on the Farook family’s nefarious background. In fact, Farook’s mother, a devout Muslim that happened to live in the same apartment where the couple developed improvised explosives and planned jihad, is still under federal investigation by law enforcement agencies.
So much for the “they acted alone” idea, let alone the leftist refrain of “workplace violence.”
