Fox News host Sean Hannity officially entered the Donald Trump-Michelle Fields feud Monday when he took Trump’s side at a town hall event, claiming that no “assault” against the ex-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields took place. Fields responded by calling out her “friend” Hannity for “not challeng[ing] Trump on his lies.”
“This whole situation is insane. So sad to see my ‘friend’ @seanhannity not challenge Trump on his lies,” wrote Fields Monday after the town hall.
“Ok. @Michellefields I wrote u privately. I watched the tape 150 times. I do NOT see what u allege. Sorry I don’t,” responded Hannity, the same claim he made at the town hall and on his radio show.
Fields sent a brief, incensed response: “@seanhannity yes u wrote me privately & then brought it up on radio & tv last week that you wrote me privately. What’s your point?”
The fiery exchange is yet another episode in the ugly saga, which has resulted in Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski being charged with misdemeanor battery after surveillance footage clearly shows that, despite his repeated denials, he did in fact grab Fields and forcefully pull her backward, as she alleged.
The latest rumor out of the Trump camp is that Lewandowski has been quietly “sidelined.” Meanwhile, in public, Trump continues to smear Fields. At first he claimed she “made up” the whole thing, but once the Jupiter Police Department released the surveillance footage he changed his attack to accusing her of exaggerating the offense.
