NCAA track star CeCe Telfer is cleaning up in women’s track, breaking records and racking up points for Franklin Pierce University. Telfer, notably, is a biological male who now identifies as a female. Last year, CeCe, then going by his birth name Craig, was a top athlete in the men’s division.
Telfer is headed to the NCAA Championships on March 8-9, reports a website for Franklin Pierce Athletics.
“Telfer has qualified in a pair of events, as she will compete in the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles,” reads the site, noting that Telfer has the “fastest time of the year in the 200-meter dash is 24.08 seconds, which was set at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships earlier this month. Her fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles is 8.33 seconds, which came in December, at the UMass Boston Indoor Open.She is ranked third in the country in the hurdles and seventh in the 200-meter dash.”
The 21-year-old cleaned up last Sunday at Smith college, taking home three Northeast-10 Conference titles and scoring 31.5 of the school’s 49.5 points. Franklin Pierce University finished 6th, which “was the highest NE10 Championships finish in program history.”
“The Ravens posted a 49.5-point day on Sunday, and Telfer took care of 31.5 of those herself. She claimed 10 points apiece for the crimson and grey by winning the NE10 titles in the 60-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles,” gushed FPUravens.com. “Telfer met the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard in all three events, with a time of 7.63 seconds in the 60-meter dash, 24.45 seconds in the 200-meter dash, and 8.49 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. The hurdles time broke her own NE10 Championships record, which had been set in Saturday’s preliminary heats.”
As noted by The Daily Caller’s Peter Hasson, “Telfer is one of the fastest runners in NCAA women’s track and field at any division — not just at the DII level. Telfer’s best time in the 55 meter dash is tied with the third-fastest runner at the women’s DI level.”

Rachel Burleson, the schools Athletic director, tweeted out a photo of the athlete and congratulated Telfer on receiving the honor. “Congratulations to all our athletes for a successful day @TheNortheast10 championships! Special shoutout to CeCe Telfer for being named the Women’s Most Outstanding Track Performer!” she wrote.
Burleson posted a similar tweet last Sunday, too:
“The NCAA has had a policy for transgender athletes for years. It is legal under NCAA bylaws for a biological male to compete in the women’s division if that male has suppressed his testosterone levels for one year,” reports The Blaze. “A guidance document on the issue published by the NCAA took the stance that it is not accurate to assume that a male who has transitioned to become a transgender female has an unfair advantage over a biological woman, saying ’it is important not to overgeneralize.’”
