Elizabeth Warren: Impeach Trump, Impeach Kavanaugh

Has the Democratic Party’s base gone so far to the leftist extreme that the only way for a candidate to earn the nomination is to basically support the impeachment of everyone Republican? In just one week alone, practically all the party’s 2020 contenders have endorsed the impeachment of President Trump in one way or another, and are now beginning to circle back to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

On Friday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) joined the chorus of anti-Kavanaugh and anti-Trump extremists when she openly called for the Supreme Court justice to be impeached based solely on the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford, who alleged last year that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school pool party in the early-80s while providing not a single witness who could corroborate her claims.

“I still believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. And like the man who appointed him, Brett Kavanaugh should be impeached,” Warren tweeted on Friday, as reported by the Washington Examiner

Also on Friday, Warren told CNN that she would like the House to launch its impeachment inquiry into President Trump based on his July phone call with Ukraine President Vlodomyr Zelensky.

“Right now, I’d like to just see us do the Ukraine issue because it is so clear and it is such a clear violation of law,” said Warren. “The president is asking for help against one of his political rivals and asking a foreign government for a thing of value for himself personally. That’s against the law.”

Warren went on to repeat the ridiculous talking point that President Trump attempted to engage in a coverup by putting the Ukraine phone call on a secure server, even though The Washington Post reported that the administration had been doing that routinely in order to prevent leaks.

“They didn’t leave that transcript in the regular course of transcripts of phone calls with foreign leaders. Why? Because it wasn’t a regular call,” Warren said. “It was a call that violated the law. And so their immediate instinct is: Let’s block it out. Let’s make sure nobody can see it. Let’s cover it up.”

“I believe that this issue is about Donald Trump and that’s where we need to keep our focus,” she continued. “He is the President of the United States and he has solicited a foreign government interfering in our 2020 election. That is a threat to democracy and it is a threat to our Constitution. That’s where we need to focus.”

As The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti reported earlier this week, Warren’s push for Trump’s impeachment comes as a recent poll shows her skirting ahead of Democratic Party frontrunner Joe Biden for the 2020 nomination:

Sen Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has passed former Vice President Joe Biden in a new national poll, marking the first time the Massachusetts legislator has led the field of 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls.

Politico reports that the Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday morning shows Warren pulling ahead of Biden by two points, 27% to 25%, among Democrats and “Democratic-leaning independents” who plan to vote in the 2020 election.

That’s still within the poll’s margin of error, as Politico points out, but there’s no denying that Warren’s campaign is on the upswing and that she’s taking voters who may have previously pledged themselves to Joe Biden. In the last Quinnipiac national poll, taken around this time in August, Biden was comfortably ahead of Warren, 32% to just 19%.

Elizabeth Warren circling her focus back to the impeachment of Brett Kavanaugh comes shortly after Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) issued a letter to Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, urging him to open an impeachment inquiry into the Trump-nominated justice.

“I write to urge the House Judiciary Committee to take appropriate action to investigate recent reports about Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and to hold Mr. Kavanaugh accountable for his prior conduct and testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Harris wrote in the letter.
