On Monday, a controversial sign posted at a local Baltimore Dunkin’ Donuts was tweeted out on social media, drawing the usually outraged mob.
“If you hear any of our staff SHOUTING in a language other than ENGLISH Please call 443-415-7775 immediately with the name of the employee to receive a coupon for FREE Coffee and a pastry,” said the sign, which has now been removed.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the general manager of the Dunkin’ Donuts removed the sign on Monday. In a statement from the company, Dunkin’ Donuts explained that the sign was initially posted at the location based on the manager’s “own personal judgment” in effort to address a “customer service and satisfaction issue.” Eventually, the owner came to the conclusion that the sign was “inappropriate” and had it removed.
The removal of the sign did not quell the online mob, though. Numerous social media users slammed the company and the local franchise owner and even threatened to boycott the chain if actions were not handled to their liking, such as firing the manager.
