This week, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson weighed in on the transgender bathroom debate, and it’s safe to say his “radical” take will not go over well with pro-LGBT activists.
In a fundraising email for Citizens United, Robertson offered his opinion on the controversy-turned-legal-battle over North Carolina’s bathroom bill that blocks biological males from entering women’s restrooms and vice versa.
“This is Phil Robertson from Duck Commander and I’ve got a radical idea,” wrote Robertson. “Men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom. Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted.”
The email links to Robertson’s pro-Citizens United donation site, StandTallWithPhil.org, where he urges visitors to “stand tall for religious freedom” and push back against “the mob mentality of political correctness”:

The heated debate over North Carolina’s so-called “transgender bathroom bill took” a legal turn Monday after NC Gov. Pat McCrory filed a lawsuit against the Loretta Lynch’s Department of Justice for “baseless and blatant overreach” in attempting to coerce the state to comply with their wishes. The same day, Lynch announced a lawsuit against the state for what she says are “civil rights violations” which she compared to the Jim Crow era.
“This is not the first time that we have seen discriminatory responses to historic moments of progress for our nation,” said Lynch in a press conference Monday. “We saw it in the Jim Crow laws that followed the Emancipation Proclamation; we saw it in the fierce and widespread resistance to Brown v. Board of Education; and we saw it in the proliferation of state bans on same-sex unions that were intended to stifle any hope that gay and lesbian Americans might one day be afforded the right to marry.”
