Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has ruffled some feathers due to her recent cooperation with President Donald Trump, which resulted in the pardoning of non-violent drug offender Alice Johnson. Trump is toxic in lefty Hollywood, but Kardashian, seemingly taking a cue from her husband Kanye West, met with the president and even tweeted a message of gratitude following the Johnson pardon.
But she’s not stopping there.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the makeup guru explicitly said she’s rooting for the president to “win,” expressing political tolerance often preached in Hollywood but almost never actually practiced.
“I try to see all sides, especially after this experience [referring to the controversy over her visit to the White House]. There’s obviously a lot that we don’t agree with, but I want him [President Trump] to win,” explained the 37 year old. “I want him to succeed, because it’s our country. It’s so crazy that everyone doesn’t want that.”
Well said.
She also expressed more understanding of the current Southern border crisis than most of the mainstream media. “It is really complex,” Kardashian admitted. “It’s heartbreaking. When you see those images, it breaks your heart and I hope that it all gets resolved. You don’t want to see these things.”
As noted by National Border Patrol Council spokesman Chris Cabrera on Wednesday, the complexity of the situation at the border is not being shown by the media. “I don’t think everybody understands what’s happening down here. You know, a lot of these kids that are coming here, and put through terrible, terrible situations by their parents; they are brought over in extremely dangerous conditions, in extremely dangerous terrain, and all this can be avoided if they just go through the port of entry,” the border patrol agent said.
“We’ve had this situation going on for four years now. I don’t think you can necessarily blame it on one administration or another. It started under one and is continuing under another. It hasn’t been fixed and it needs to be fixed.”
On a lighter note, the mother of three also cleared up recent comments concerning a potential run for office.
“Would you ever run for office?” asked the magazine.
“You know, everyone’s been asking me that and I said in one interview, ‘Never say never.’ And then I was like, ‘Why did I say that?’ I don’t have political aspirations. I really don’t!”
