Senate Candidate Asks ‘What Was The Point Of The Revolution’ If Brits Get Single Payer Health Care, And We Get ‘A President Guilty Of Treason?’

On Wednesday, a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate in Minnesota sent out a tweet that can only be described as laughably bizarre:

What was the point of the Revolution if subjects of the British Crown get single payer health care and university education at a fraction of what it costs us and we are stuck with a President guilty of treason, bribery and other crimes, and a Congress unwilling to get rid of him?

While Painter’s tweet has gotten support on social media, been “liked” approximately 9,300 times, and received 3,100 retweets as of this publication, there are some on Twitter who took him to task:

You don’t “get” single payer, it gets you. You don’t “get” free education, you get the education the government wants to give you for free.
And if you have proof of the President being guilty of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, please bring suit with the US government post haste

What crimes? Where’s your proof of treason? The point of the revolution was to free ourselves from an imperial power and allow citizens of the US the ability to govern themselves. Feel free to move to Britain if you want those things.
