CSULA Defends Professor Who Physically Threatened Students For Organizing Shapiro Event

   DailyWire.com

Remember the California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) sociology professor who threatened to physically fight students who organized an event hosting The Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro and then threatened to “macro-aggress” when the students continued to advertise the event?

CSULA had one instinctive response to a professor who threatens to physically fight students for being associated with Shapiro: protecting the professor instead of punishing him.

Yesterday, The Daily Wire tried getting a statement from CSULA staff members on whether they planned to do anything about Professor Robert Donald Weide’s actions and the threat he posed toward students attending Shapiro’s Thursday event. CSULA’s campus police responded that they were prohibited from releasing any information but that they would file a crime report on the incident. Jocelyn, a public affairs staff member at CSULA, told The Daily Wire the university would be coming out with a statement yesterday.

Last night, CSULA president William Covino sent an email to the CSULA’s YAF student president announcing the event would be canceled because it was not “inclusive” enough.

“After careful consideration, I have decided that it will be best for our campus community if we reschedule Ben Shapiro’s appearance for a later date, so that we can arrange for him to appear as part of a group of speakers with differing viewpoints on diversity,” Covino wrote. “Such an event will better represent our university’s dedication to the free exchange of ideas and the value of considering multiple viewpoints.”

This morning, The Daily Wire asked Covino’s office whether CSULA planned to take any action whatsoever against Professor Weide for his threats against students; his office staff refused to answer because Weide’s actions were a “personal matter.”

“Well, that’s a personal matter so we couldn’t discuss that,” Ana, Covino’s office assistant, told The Daily Wire this morning.

A professor has been threatening students for weeks and has elicited no action from the university. Shapiro, on the other hand, is scheduled to lecture in two days and he is already considered a “threat” and damaging to students’ “health” by campus leftists who were quick to attempt to shut him down.

Shapiro’s February 25 event, titled “When Diversity Becomes a Problem,” will be hosted as planned, nonetheless, by CSULA’s YAF chapter and will be recorded live by a camera crew.

In addition, security and paramedics will be present for leftist snowflakes who risk heart failure due to Shapiro’s presence.
