Conservative Group Launches #AnywhereButTARGET Campaign

Retail giant Target took a stance on the highly contentious transgender bathroom debate back in April, aligning themselves with LGBT activists with their announcement that they would open their bathrooms and fitting rooms according to “gender identity,” as opposed to biological sex. Target’s current policy allows for men who “identify” as women to use women’s restrooms and fitting rooms, and vise versa.

“We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity,” reads a statement from Target. “Everyone deserves to feel like they belong.”

The blow-back from former-consumers was swift and fierce, aimed at Target’s pocket, and it has not let up. 2ndVote, a “conservative watchdog” group, has launched an #AnywhereButTARGET campaign in response to their leftist activism. The group is asking for conservatives to send a message this holiday season by boycotting Target and shopping at companies that don’t push the politics of the left.

“2ndVote is marking the start of the Christmas shopping season by launching the #AnywhereButTARGET campaign to allow conservatives direct communication with Target and highlight alternative retailers for Christmas shopping,” reads the group’s press release.

“This Christmas shopping season we’re asking conservatives to send a clear and direct message to Target, a company that seems to care more about a radical political agenda than common sense and safety of its own customers,” reads the statement issued by Lance Wray, executive director of 2ndVote.

As Wray highlights, pressure from conservatives thus far has led Target to spend $20 million on individual gender neutral bathrooms for their stores.

“2ndVote is calling on conservative consumers to engage the country’s second largest retailer on its company-wide policy that allows and encourages individuals to choose restroom and changing room facilities based on gender identity rather than biological sex,” continues Wray. “Immediate pushback from conservatives forced Target to spend $20 million to add gender neutral bathrooms to its stores shortly after announcing the policy earlier this year.”

Wray adds, “The #AnywhereButTARGET campaign comes at the beginning of the busiest shopping season when major retailers, like Target, expect to bring in over 30% of their annual revenue.”

“Conservatives have many other options to Target this season and that’s why we’re choosing #AnywhereButTARGET,” continues the executive director. “When a company as large and well-known as Target chooses to insert itself directly into such a radical movement that seeks to ultimately destroy religious liberty and completely goes against our conservative values, it’s our role as an organization to give conservatives a way to communicate directly with the company.”

2ndVote recently published a list of companies that directly fund Planned Parenthood, the scandal-ridden abortion mill responsible for over 320,000 abortions annually, encouraging conservatives to cast their “second vote” with their wallets, and avoid such companies.
