Over the weekend, cartoonist Chris Britt came under fire for publishing a cartoon to his Facebook page depicting SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s daughter:
The cartoon was apparently meant to mock Kavanaugh’s statement that his daughter had prayed for Christine Blasey Ford prior to her testimony last week.
The Illinois Times, a newspaper that has a history with Britt, was also slammed because the cartoonist had placed their logo in the bottom right corner of his drawing. However, the newspaper released the following statement, saying that they never published the cartoon, and asking that Britt remove their logo from the drawing:
While many conservatives were troubled by Britt’s cartoon, a major progressive figure has come out against it as well. On Wednesday, Chelsea Clinton castigated Britt for using Kavanaugh’s daughter to mock the nominee:
In her tweet, Clinton echoes the oft repeated and unwritten political rule that the children of political figures should remain strictly off limits in any partisan fight.
