Cavaliers Owner’s Statement To LeBron Is VERY Different Than First Time James Left Team

What a difference a championship and a little more tact can make. The first time LeBron James announced that he was leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers, which he did in a widely-criticized fashion, the result was a blistering response from Cavs majority owner Dan Gilbert. But after coming back home and securing that long-coveted championship for the team, James has parted company with Cleveland on much more amiable terms. To say Gilbert handled it a lot better this time around is an understatement.

Below are the two open letters posted by Gilbert, the first after LeBron left Cleveland in 2010 to create the dream team in Miami, the second after LeBron announced Sunday that he was moving to Los Angeles.
