The mother of Bubba Wallace, the lone black NASCAR driver who allegedly had a noose placed into his garage stall, has claimed that other drivers in the sport have previously called her son the N-word.

Speaking on Sirius XM’s  “The Joe Madison Show,” Desiree Wallace said that the noose incident is not the first time that her son had hate directed his way.

“This is not his first incident,” Desiree Wallace said, as reported by Fox News. “If he gets into it with another driver, they’re quick to bring out the N-word.”

“There were video cameras but there were not cameras where the noose was hung. See, everybody thinks there are cameras around there, they know who’s done it. Unfortunately it’s not that simple” she said of the noose incident. “It is an insider as far as NASCAR. I’m just praying that it’s not one of his team members …”

The noose allegedly found in Bubba Wallace’s garage came after he publicly supported NASCAR banning the Confederate flag from all events.

“It’s been a long time coming for sure,” he told NPR. “And I know a lot of people are satisfied with the direction and the choices that NASCAR would make to change the image and move forward with the message that we’re trying to push across these days.”

Upon reports of the noose in Bubba’s garage, NASCAR announced that it would be investigating the incident, denouncing any and all racist activity in the sport.

“This is a difficult time for our sport but we are going to react swiftly and again we’re going to use all the means, resources at our disposal and of those of the FBI to make sure this person or persons are caught and dealt with swiftly and severely,” said NASCAR President Steve Phelps on Monday. “There’s no room for this at all and we won’t tolerate it.”

Richard Petty Motorsports, for whom Bubba Wallace races, equally denounced the act of racism.

“I’m enraged by the act of someone placing a noose in the garage stall of my race team,” Petty said in a statement. “There is absolutely no place in our sport or our society for racism. This filthy act serves as a reminder of how far we still have to go to eradicate racial prejudice and it galvanizes my resolve to use the resources of Richard Petty Motorsports to create change.”

As reported by Fox News, dozens of NASCAR drivers stood in solidarity with Bubba Wallace by pushing his car “to the front of the field before Monday’s race as FBI agents nearby tried to find out who left a noose in his garage stall over the weekend.”

Despite the Confederate flag ban at NASCAR events, the flag was flown outside of Talladega Speedway on Sunday along with the message, “Defund NASCAR.”
